Are people confident for next season?

Can't be confident until we see what personnel we have to start next season with, if we can buy and loan the right players then we have every chance of improving where we are at present, we're starting from a low base (5/6) in terms of players who are good enough and who will be here next season. I think we're ok in defence maybe a couple of players but midfield and up front we're desperately short in both numbers and quality.
Players that are good enough for a play off team:

- Dijksteel, Bola, Hall, Fry, McNair
- Morsy (was Wigans player off the year and the second half off that season they proved to be auto promotion form), Tav

That's probably it, so yes, some rebuilding to do. Howson and Watmore are good enough to be in and out of the team in a play off side, possible Fisher too

Recent performances have lowered my expectations. I think a sizeable rebuild is needed and we won't have a lot of cash to spend without losing key players. It's frustrating considering the huge amounts that have been wasted in the recent past. BUT I can't wait to find out! 😁

Do you really think we have the best defenders in the league ?
You have named our full defence , but we do concede a lot of poor goals don't you think ? Do you trust them to be the best defence next season ?
Personally I think we lack a leader in that group , like Declan Gallagher .
Keep Hall / Fry fit , and he could be the perfect free transfer for me.
A captain , international , leader . Age 30 so a 2 year contract , with a 3rd year option.
I also think McNair may go , so again , he could replace him.
Thoughts Mart ?

We have the worst keeper in the league and the odds of a shot on target being a goal are extremely high.
Our defense would have an excellent record with a better keeper behind them.

Well I was stating good enough to be play offs not top of the table, I think Fry is absolutely in the top 4 CBs. I believe all of those defenders are good enough to be a regular in a play off team. The only one I would have concerns with is McNair who isn't physical enough, but I still think he would scrape in with his other attributes.

Our issue this season hasn't been those defenders, it's when we bring in Fisher or Spence play at RB, when McNair is a back 4, or play we Johnson at LB. They've also have a poor GK behind them all season, yet despite injuries and a rubbish keeper we've still got the 8th best defence. Keep them fit, and a solid GK and they'll be about 4th best.

Personally I think we lack a leader in that group , like Declan Gallagher .
I wouldn't disagree, we do tend to do better with Hall than without, he has a bit of that organisation and leadership, but I wouldn't argue with aproper experienced Mogga type of leader

I also think McNair may go , so again , he could replace him.
Like I said, I think McNair is great on the ball, and solid enough against the bottom half teams, but he isn't physical enough, and sometimes switches off, ideally we would keep him as backup CB and first choice number 8 with Morsy holding. He would be one of the best backup CBs in the league without doubt.

Oh I'd also point out the age and experience of 4 of that back 5. Hall is in his prime, he won't get better, in 2-4 years he'll drop off

At the start of this season:
- Dijksteel had just 42 career starts, a novice and I believe about 15 of those were in midfield for Charlton. So he was really still learning to be a RB. He will start next season with 71 starts, a couple of seasons experience and at a higher level than the first half of his career. He will have learned a lot
- Fry started this season as a 22 year old with 97 starts and never having truly been a regular starter. He's now first choice and will start with 127+ starts under his belt and at 23 will have filled out a little
- McNair people think of him as an experienced player but he only had 75 career league starts at the start of the season. Most of those were in midfield. He's bumped that up to 116 already, and has played 54 games for club and country this year. It's been a huge experience for him. He'll start next year as a proper senior experienced pro for the first time
- Bola started the season with just 71 league starts under his belt. Now on 107. He'll still technically be a young pro at just 23 next year but he has proven he can play at this level now.

People forget just how inexperienced and young some these defenders are. Dani Ayala who we let go in the summer had more starts as a defender than Dijksteel, Fry, McNair and Bola put together! They'll improve again next season.

man management? maybe we can get this guy in?

Warnock sacked off Gestede and saved us from relegation, what do you want him to do now? Offer Britt and Fletcher bumper contacts and wait to see how that turns out? We've already been there I'm afraid.
Warnock did not sack Gestede off. In fact, he told Gestede you'll be my no1 striker if you stay. That's worrying in itself. Have a look at Warnocks record of signing strikers and it's dreadful...

Depending on the formation (Warnock has previously admitted favouring a 4-3-3?) I think we'll need:

Probably 2 keepers
A back up left back
A back up CB
2-3 central midfielders
2-3 wingers
And 2 centre forwards.

And that's just to have a full quota of players capable of playing 2 matches a week for a 46 game season.

I just can't see how we'll get the quality of player in those numbers across the line with little outlay.

What we'll probably do is get half of those players and make do, but it will be a herculean effort to get anywhere near promotion.
I completely agree with this. Well said.

Warnock keeps hinting that next season will be a good one but I'm really unsure on this...

We have potentially 7 first team players leaving (Bettinelli, Kebano, Bolasie, Mendez-Laing, Britt, Fletcher & Johnson) and we're expecting to replace all of them for better players with a smaller budget and that's without improving what we already have. I'm really doubtful...
Numbers are thin on the ground. Of those names mentioned I would like to see back are Kebano, Bolasie return, not much hope I know but the others i'm not too fussed, IMHO, they didn't bring much to the team that others, already here, won't

I haven't got a clue what to expect. Seasons now start with a whole load of transfers and loans ongoing and the team still being formed. Also I don't know enough about the new players to even guess how we'll do. Looking forward to actually going to games again to find out though. That's the main thing 👍

make or break for NW for me. January onwards his decision making wasn't that great and neither were the performances. i hope he gets it right, but....

Excited- a number of new faces with some old. Actually yes quietly confident we will do better than last season.

A few I’ll get over the line but our top striker will probably be last minute although he might sign before I get served in this 5 guys que
