Arctic Monkeys Playing the Riverside Next Summer

I remember seeing Last of The Shadow Puppets at Middlesbrough Town Hall in 2016, and then seeing Alex Turner and Miles Kane in the Empire on the same night with cans of red stripe in their hands haha.
Saw the whole band getting a kebab in Leeds after they had played an NME tour with Mystery Jets, Maximo Park and We Are Scientists. Took turns in headlining. What a show. Touts were selling tickets for £1 outside. My mate wanted to go but didn't have a ticket so I phoned him and said get yourself down in the car as you can get in for a quid. Sadly he did not come.

Was at that gig. Felt so bad for Maximo Park having to go on after AM. Felt like half the room just left as soon as AM finished. They were unstoppable at that moment in time. Their gig at the Empire around the same time was brilliant as well.

Arctic Monkeys have been brilliant for 20 years. Their debut remains one of my all time favourite albums.

They've been rumoured to play Hillsborough (Park not Stadium) for years now but I believe it's finally happening next summer.

Despite seeing them multiple times in the early years I've only seen them once since (headlining a festival in Lisbon about 10 years ago).

Recent setlists have been a bit stale in my opinion. I'd actually be keener in hearing the newer stuff but not sure how well it would translate to a stadium setting.

Album release show at the Sage please :)

What a photo opportunity for Ben Houchen, he's going to ditch the hard hat, safety specs and high vis vest for a gelled Mohawk, shades and a leather jacket, he'll claim that he was behind the gig, has always been a fan and that without Brexit it wouldn't have happened, he'll then claim it will create 8 billion jobs and mime along on his inflatable guitar, lapping up all the 'Well done, Ben' comments on his expensively funded social media account.

Seriously, though it's good news for the area and hopefully a sign that the stadium can attract at least one big non-sporting event a year.
