Baptiste captained Spurs U18 two seasons ago but looks like he couldn't break into the U21s last season - could be a good signing

Nope - he's only played 4-5 games for Spurs U21s - Boro wasn't one of them

We haven't done too bad picking up a few players out of academies developing them and selling on, Tav, Spence and Coburn

Top clubs will always have talented prospects dropping out of their academies and under 21’s. It’s been a lucrative source of players for us for little risk.

Low risk high gain signings like this can be just as valuable as a 15m signing .
As mentioned earlier,look at Djed spence,considered not good enough for Fulham yet resurrects his career and ultimately could end up bringing in 20m to our club.
Let's give the lad a platform to prove Spurs wrong

It was reported not long ago and widely discussed on here that we had released 16 youth players, I seem to recall something from our youth coaching set-up last season saying we were deliberately playing a good chunk of our squads at an age group up to progress them.

These signings will be to plug gaps or hopefully find another gem or two who we think we can get something out of.

Nobody is being pushed down at all, it is a team effort.

Which youth players have we lost after being forced out by us bringing players in from other academies then?

it’s not nonsense at all though is it. If a local academy player is better than the academy players we are bringing in he’s got nothing to worry about.


If a local academy player isn’t getting a game or is released it’s because they’re not good enough

Thats what? Over £30m in transfer fees for that lot. And no doubt someone could come up with more examples.
