Mentioned it yesterday, but he looked like he was carrying an injury. Pace and movement wasn't there. He should have skinned their 54yr old CB and we should have been targeting this .......but didn't happen in either game (and arguably the league game).I like Archer but he definitely had an off night on Wednesday. He had 3 pretty good chances and I didn't realise quite how good the chances were at the match, it was only when I watched the highlights. An in form Archer would have taken one of them.
Ramsey was the player who brought pace, movement and disruption. This created the space that Archer thrives on.Archer is completely dependent on the pace of the build up play behind him.
The other night (and the last few games) its been too pedestrian, and hes become isolated as a result. Someone mentioned in another post Howson is the unseen missing link in that kind of play, short but impactful passes, he needs less touches than the other midfielders, all of these split second decisions that make such a big difference to a player like Archer, and more importantly the defenders around him who arent on their toes as a result.
I think he is absolutely lethal with the service he has been given for 80% of his time with us. We would be very lucky to get him back next season - I'm keeping everything crossed.
I thought the same. There was a couple of times I thought he would beat their keeper to the ball and he just seemed half-paced. Wonder if he was carrying slight hamstring injury or something and we thought it worth the gamble rather than playing Crooks.Mentioned it yesterday, but he looked like he was carrying an injury. Would be a great boost to get that over the line early
