Not sure what to say about him following last night
He’s a bit of a modern day Bernie Slaven
Lethal in front of goal when given the chance but you have to feed him and I’m not sure we did that well enough
He even came looking for the ball last night trying to hold it or lay it off which isn’t his game really….
On balance I’d love to see him here again next season along with Ramsey but suspect that is a long way off for now….

If he had a full season with us he’d have got 20 goals.

He does have an habit of being quiet though and unfortunately, went missing in the key games at the end, like several others.

When he first got into the team I thought he was going to be this electric forward with breathtaking pace (think Watford at home), but we didn’t saw that a lot of the time.

Great talent, not sure he will do it for a PL team next season though, needs another loan (with us).

I have a suspicion both him and Ramsey will be back next season...
I would agree with this, whilst they both have the potential to be top players, IMO, they are not ready to start in the PL anytime soon, Ramsey does seem light weight and has had two really bad injuries this year so he needs a really strong pre season and archer as you say lethal in front of goal but all round game needs improvement, Lots of teams will be interested but of we can make things happen early hopefully the majority of the players want to go that step further next season and come back and get promoted.

As suggested on another thread, there are lots of players available on Free transfers etc and if we get in early which am sure we have been working on pick a couple of unknowns up and we go again!

Archer is completely dependent on the pace of the build up play behind him.

The other night (and the last few games) its been too pedestrian, and hes become isolated as a result. Someone mentioned in another post Howson is the unseen missing link in that kind of play, short but impactful passes, he needs less touches than the other midfielders, all of these split second decisions that make such a big difference to a player like Archer, and more importantly the defenders around him who arent on their toes as a result.

I think he is absolutely lethal with the service he has been given for 80% of his time with us. We would be very lucky to get him back next season - I'm keeping everything crossed.

I agree. Howsons injury came at the wrong time for us. We badly missed him.

Wasn't it something like their 23rd clean sheet?
They obviously defend well.
something we need to learn to do better next season. We won't be in the top 3 defensive figures with the way Carrick likes us to play, but we need to be a little less ideological, particularly away from home and a bit more solid and stubborn like these lot were. Coventry were far from exceptional but they knew how to stifle a game.

Why? I don't think he'lol be loaned to a premier league club. So unless Leeds or Leicester for example go after him i think we're the most likely destination.
I've got a feeling a Sheff Utd type team (Lower end PL) will fancy a gamble on him next season, and Villa will see that as the next step.

Trying to take a positive from it is that it might make Villa think that another season loaned out in the Championship is the best option for him.

Looked out of his depth last night and the First leg so still not sure he is ready for the Prem. Hopefully Villa think the same

I would like to see carrick adapt a little a get a proper ball winner to come in. If he did he would allow a little more risk from the right back. We do need some real bite in the middle. We need the championship version of busquests
