Appeal unsuccessful

Will we be deducted three points?
Remember when Mascherano provoked Aliadiere into reacting?
Aliadiere got a red and 3 game ban....Boro appealed and it was turned down - with an extra game ban added due to FA saying it was a 'frivolous' appeal?

Same season Mascherano gets sent off... Liverpool fine him for a red....but appeal
The appeal is turned down....but no additional game ban...so apparently that appeal was NOT considered 'frivolous'

We shouldn't have appealed it, it was a definite red. Fry and Stewart both had hold of each other but the referee will always favour the striker in that situation.

Stewart was clever and went down, whilst Fry was naive.

The astute defender kicks lumps out of the striker before he makes it to the box.

or is he supposed to grab his hand and collapse his legs so we get the free kick?

Simulate an elbow to the face perhaps?

Stewart was in front of Fry and Fry grabs at his arm and his chest. Stewart was always going to get the benefit of doubt in that situation.

Fry clearly pushes him as well, which is why he goes to ground.

Soft foul at best.
Worth appealing. Never mind, move on.

Fry should have done a clayton and brought him down straight away, ran across. His legs or something.
That said, steffen could have come and got the ball

I think it was the kind of one you would be fuming it it went against you, but would also be fuming if you didn't get.

As for being a penalty that's a plain mistake. Disappointed the linesman didn't tell the ref this.

Nah, arm goes up from Stewart and Fry pushes it down. If we’re going dafty then Stewart should have been sent off for violent conduct.

I've not seen the refs report. It is not a pen. any offence is outside the box.

BUT

Fry is last man and it is an opportunity has to be a red

If the offence is inside the box it is simulation by Stewart - yellow card Stewart and free kick Boro

We were right to appeal, you see loads of those races between striker and defender ending up with bodies on the floor and nothing given.

Imagine Chuba at the other end being given it if some similar chase had happened?

Of course not.

And the way the football authorities behave it means nothing that the appeal was turned down.

We still talking about this.

Fry was naive, needs a bit of that c you next tuesday gene to reach the next level for me.
Exactly this, a defender with a bit more sense would have brought Stewart down on the half way line and took the yellow. Fry must have known he wasn’t catching him once he is away

Nah, not saying Fry couldn’t have done better but he got sent off for the final act which was Stewart diving into the box after he had overran the ball. I can see why the ref gave it but I think the replays show it was a dive once he knew he couldn’t get his shot in.

It happens, one of those things, we won a pen at Burnley and a red card because the ref made a mistake.
