Apparently Levy is taking over the lead role in negotiations for Spence

I'd take that to get a quick dealšŸ‘

But I'll take any reports with a degree of scepticism until deal is done.

I think this is one deal where I'd rather see the money in the deal rather than "add-ons" for if he plays so many games or gets capped or whatever, I would prefer the money in our bank account not future what-ifs dependent on Djed's "enthusiasm" for doing his job.

And if you knew anything you would know that Fabio Paratici the Managing Director, Football at Spurs is ā€œresponsible for managing and developing the clubā€™s sporting operations, facilities and footballing infrastructure.ā€ and NOT responsible for negotiating fees, transfers and contracts....that's down to the Chairman !!

I'm waiting for an apology........

im sorry

Spurs know we had a 13m agreement with Forest and don't agree with the 7m hike to 20m. That's the hold up.
That 13m if true would been valued upon 2021 year-endā€˜s revision of the loan agreement.
Lots of appreciation in his asset value since then!

Interesting to know if any purchase options still alive with Forest and which if any they have let expire.

If we have any sense, we should start some press rumours of Arsenal now showing an interest.

spurs know spence wants to go there and his agent has been telling other clubs as much who've showed an interest. Personal terms are done with spurs and spence - they've been in place for ages. Newcastle were interested too but as I said ages ago spence hasn't ever really settled in the north east and even before the issues with warnock he's wanted out of boro.

to be fair to boro they've played a bit of a blinder getting spence on that extention as they're able to play hard ball and are doing so, and the spurs move was also in the pipeline in january - hence not having an agreement in place with forest as boro saw potential for more cash.

Djed Spence might be a very big transfer for Boro (and Forest) but it surely is not going to be earth shattering for Spurs. Not the fee nor his role in the squad. There have got to be far bigger fish out there that Spurs are looking to land, moneywise. Don't you think?

How long is he contracted to play for us for?
Could he just sit it out and go for a free?
2 years.

No way would he do that and be sat on the wages he was given when he signed the contract extension before going to Forest.

I think he was down as being on 3.5k a week, and won't want to give up a 10 fold increase over two years, he'd be missing out on nearly 2m quid from those two years, plus the signing on fee, and would no doubt be signing a 4 year contract, which is another 2m. Signing that contract also opens the door to progressing even higher etc.

Yes, he could get a much higher signing on fee if he left on a free, as would have far more options, but equally 2 years rotting in the reserves won't do him any favours.

Yep. Also I don't think I've seen anything to suggest he'll kick on much further as a player. He's a fantastic athlete, pace to burn, good 121 defending etc.

For the next level though I think you're looking at something special like an outstanding delivery (including potentially set-piece) or elite footballing intelligence. I don't think he's likely to develop those attributes. I think pretty much what you see is what you're going to get from him now.

His value might increase a bit, but I'd be surprised if he goes for much more than Ā£20m later on in his career.

Also think he's unlikely to attract interest from any club much bigger than Spurs. So if he does well, they'll probably keep hold of him until he's in decline. If he doesn't do well, he won't have increased in value anyway.
