Anyone own the Pixel 6?

I was considering the new Pixel 6a when it comes out, but have just seen that Amazon, John Lewis and others are doing 25% off the current Pixel 6 making it only £25 or £50 more than the Pixel 6a when it is launched.
I know there were a few issues at launch of the Pixel 6 that have been fixed by updates and that some say the fingerprint sensor is less than ideal, but wanted to hear first hand opinions from any owners on here.

It is my work phone, so don't really use it as much as I do my personal phone - but I think it is pretty decent.

Never noticed any issues with the fingerprint sensor, it's under the screen on the front just like my OnePlus 8T and works just as well. It's quite big to hold in the hand, especially with a case on (and I have big hands) but other than that I don't think you can go too far wrong.

I would say that the area on the back where the camera is, is protruding a little and I'm not a fan of that, and you do feel you require a case on to protect it a bit.

Unrelated follow-up - is your username and avatar big Lebowski related? Love that film

I've got a pro rather than the 6 but the fingerprint reader works fine for me, still prefer where it was placed on the older versions. I've had no issues whatsoever and only buy a phone based on camera due to there being very little that separates the rest.

Got one last week and would agree with Matt above re: size, it's noticeably bigger than my Pixel 4.

Fingerprint display doesn't always work for me but I think I probably didn't set it up properly, lots of variables in terms of how your finger rests on the screen if that makes sense? I don't see it as a huge issue tho, can just type in passcode.

My main gripe is with the volume of the phone. When listening to music/spotify it's significantly quieter than the Pixel 4 (using same headphones etc). The volume from the phone itself when watching videos (using phone speaker) is also on the quiet side. Apparently it's a software issue, so should be easy to fix (volume enhancers increase the speaker volume) but it is slightly annoying - if, unlike me, you're not too fussed about listening to loud music you may be OK.

Good to know. The 6a has a different camera sensor but all the software goodies. Sounds like it's too good a deal to pass on and I don't mind a big phone too much.

The 6a looks really good but no wireless charging. That's something I've got really used to at the moment with my Pixel 5

Interesting thread as its something I've been weighing up. I fancy the Pixel 6a as it's a small phone and comes with the same chip. Although you lose wireless charging and only 90hz refresh. Also a few other bits and bobs. I just like small phones and they are getting harder to find.

Ive put myself down on the pre order 6a with Google. Yet like you seen the actual Pixel 6 for £450 on the Google store and Argos. So it's got me now wondering about the Pixal 6. It's a phone with far better specs and now only £50 more. So definitely same as you 😂

I know it's hard a few issues but generally on YouTube it seems like they have ironed most out with software updates. I'm guessing it's the same software the 6a will come with.

They'll both be on Android 13 in August?
Pixel 6a is only 60hz refresh ☹️

i had it for a week after coming from a larger phone i absolutely hated it, the screen quality was crap and it was just too small so returned and bought a Poco F3 for 200 pounds and its so so much better than the pixel. There have been some really really bad long term and user reviews of the pixel 6 it some saying its the worst smartphone ever lots of issues with battery life and signal connection. I would love to give a google phone a try purely for vanilla android, however every generation of pixel there seems to be some issue or other with hardware. I dont think they can compete with the likes of xaiomi who bang for buck always seem to be generation ahead in hardware.

Got one at the start of the year after having a OnePlus for the last 2 years and I think it's a decent phone. My only gripe would be the battery length and charge. The OnePlus used to charge really quickly and last me a couple of days whereas the pixel lasts a day.

Yeah, my realme takes 35mins to 100%, but after 3 years it drains pretty rapidly.

I've had one since day it was released and also got the free Bose headphones, which was a real sweetener. My previous phone was Pixel 4.

As far as the pixel 6 goes, it's great. I've not experienced any significant issues at all and no issues with the finger print reader, other than the fact it was a ball ache getting used to after the face recognition of the P4, which was class.

The camera on the Pixel 6 is also amazing.

I have a galaxy, second latest model, can't remember number, as a work phone and the PAY is head and shoulders better bit of kit

On the battery, I've never charged over 85% and generally don't let it slip below 20% and it lasts easy over a day, I'd say I could squeeze 2 out but don't. I don't hammer my phone playing games, or on line that much though so may not be a true comparison to YJs experience above.

That's disappointing. I was looking at getting a pixel 6 pro in November when my contract is up for renewal. I've currently got the 4a and it's been the best performing phone I've ever had.

I got one the week they came out. It feels space age compared to the 7 year old phone it replaced, so can't really compare it to latest Samsung/Apple models as I had such an old fashioned handset.

The camera is fantastic and the updates have made it better. Fingerprint sensor was sorted in January and I love the pixel buds headphones bundled with it too.

I'm still rolling with the pixel 4. I normally only replace my phone when it gets destroyed somehow and this one hasn't had a decent bike crash or been run over by a taxi like it's predecessors. Am I missing out on anything special by not having a 6 👀

Bit the bullet, arrives Sunday 👍
Wise choice. I bought mine last month to replace a Realme 8. I really liked that phone but i cracked the screen and there was no value in having it replaced.
The Realme replaced a Galaxy 20 which was dog turd. The fingerprint sensor only worked when the phone was in my pocket and I didn't want to turn it on. In random places at random times Spotify would start blasting out, and it would take a billion photos of pocket lint.
As I said the Realme was great but the Pixel 6 is better. Battery life is a tad shorter, the fingerprint sensor works so good that I don't miss the face recognition. I would have preferred a few more shortcuts on the drop-down notifications screen but the camera more than makes up for any minor deficiencies.
It's a keeper.
