Anyone listened to the Mark Schwarzer podcast with Robert Huth?

Interesting re Stampy and Mido.
Also why both came to Boro - the ambition of the club and status was the common factor. The location thing is over stated.

Indeed. Made me annoyed all over again with those two. Well, in Stampy's case more disappointed.

They obviously both really enjoyed their time with us though.

Really interesting.

Not in the least surprised about Mido. Terrible signing. Like quite a few around that time it was obvious it would be a disaster.

Surprised about Stampy. I can´t believe a pro footballer could get away with that.

Bump as I haven’t listened but my best mate was pro at boro until 2002. Said soon as McLaren came in he bombed out the drinkers like stamp and Keith O’Neill

i'm not sure that i felt disappointed in Stampy, but more with the coaches and McClaren. He obviously had confidence issues and feigning the injury was probably not being able to face up to the pressure of playing 1st team football. The coaches and McClaren should have recognised the problem and tackled it, given Stamp the confidence that he needed to overcome any problems that he had. Shame really but a decent podcast

Schwarzer said Stamp had as much ability as ANYBODY he played with at the club, but struggled with the mentality and the lifestyle discipline. More pressure on him perhaps as a local lad.
Said Mido was just not consistently commited, but is now a fitness freak.

Interestingly Huth said Charlie Adam was the biggest waster he played with; great talent but always a stone overweight and lifestyle issues. He said he's a great lad, a big talent, but could have been so very much more.

Good listen, surprised about both the Stampy and Mido comments, for different reasons.

Just shows that talent without the right mindset isn't enough
