In terms of available ICU beds ? Are they at near capacity or a way off this situation ?

They're doing okay. There was an outbreak at James Cook at some point last week - a lot of staff members had to be tested. Source is knowing someone who works there

Wards 1-12 currently all for Covid patients, that's alot of beds

yes it seems alot of beds....but due to social distance 4 people per bay so not as many as you think.

It’s a lot worse than the peak of last year family member works in A&E and said it’s really bad very stressful and pushed to their limits. Govt need to wake the xxxx up and go full lockdown and enforce it close the borders and actually enforce it

I’m sure their going for herd immunity , especially with them halving the vaccine. Protect the older ones and alow it to spread to those younger , those that can get through it abs develop some kind of immunity.
No they are not.
Thats’s why we are in a lockdown and if the R number goes up again we will see stricter measures.

Thought if you got brought to hospital with covid you'd go straight to the covid wards?

It is a lot of beds, 4 patients per bay means 2 other beds not in use.
Also, up u.til the beginning of last week ward 37 was a covid ward plus wards 21 and 22 i think it is, one was a covid ward and the other was turned into a temporary ICU. I see no reason for it to have changed but to be honest my info is a bit behind now because my wife works on ward 12 but is off ill at the moment after testing positive.
