Anyone had the dreaded lurgy this week?

It's been doing the rounds where I work. Couple of staff members have actually been off sick with chest infections.

Amazingly I haven't caught it but then since the start of this pandemic I've stopped getting head colds. I used to average 3 or 4 head colds a year.

I think handwashing has been a big reason behind that. Touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your face is one of the biggest causes of the spread of infection. I now use hand gel regularly whilst on shift.
This is so true basic hygene goes a long way.

Not to hijack Randy's man flu thread but I had noravirus about 3 years ago whilst working in Amsterdam. I spent a week in bed hoping the next day would be better then spent a whole day at the airport trying to get a flight home when runway was closed due to snow. I then spent another week at home in bed. I thought I was dying
Not to diminish your ailments in any way Laughing but when I first read this I just saw Amsterdam and bed hopping and I thought that is a completely different type of poorly😉

Its definitely doing the rounds - started with me yesterday. Always feel it first in the throat/back of my mouth and nose is starting to play up as well. Almost like clockwork for the time of year as well.

Touch wood i have always been lucky when it comes to catching colds etc in that i very rarely do or if i do its always very mild. Having two kids under 5 though, christ on a bike. i have been ill more than i haven't living with two super spreaders.

Day 6 update.

The death feeling has gone away. Replaced by a every once and a while random cough where it feels like your soul is leaving your body.
Covid test yesterday still negative.
Ate a curry last night to help sweat out the b****d viral infection which seems to have helped.
Sudafed supply all gone, replaced with copius amounts of fresh orange juice, black grapes, wonky strawberries and lemon tainted cold water. It's like a mini detox.

I dislocated my shoulder on Friday and torn something inside so I’ve been popping Ibroprofen all weekend. Woke up on Monday morning with terrible stomach cramps, gradually spread throughout my body. Every inch of me aches. Don’t feel like eating, scratchy throat and annoying cough. It’s the man-flu.
Even worse, I’m on a 10 Week theory course so stuck in a classroom.
Covid is Negative. I just hope this passes quickly but my shoulder is going to take a lot longer to heal.

Man flu has now been superseded by Manthrax . I had a hot bath last night to soothe myself, got out, then went all dizzy . I controlled fell onto the bathroom floor then couldnt get up for the next half hour. Dizzy, throbbing, sweating profusely. It wasn’t pretty. I was the only one in the house apart from the dog, who was blissfully unaware and asleep at the bottom of the stairs.

My 2 year old daughters nursery put a message out that a hand foot and mouth outbreak had occurred. My daughter started feeling ill at the weekend the day after her flu nose spray so just thought it was side effects from that. Had her to the doctors yesterday she has HFAM, a cold, an ear infection and the start of a chest infection all at the same time.

I'm getting over mine, started with a temperature and feeling shyte, then it went onto full on cold symptoms, bad head, runny nose, phlegmy cough.
Paracetamol and a mucus cough medicine has made a difference, but still a bit short of breath after a coughing fit.
My PCR test came back negative thankfully. Going for a little walk with the dog later which will be my first time over the door since Sunday.

The wife is feeling really ropey for about a week now, we do a LFD every day and all -ive as was a PCR on weds so its a cold, but a rotten one. Managed to escape it so far but now I've said that...

Manthrax ................... love it. :ROFLMAO:

Lateral flow test today has shown positive so I’ve had to take time off work and I’ve been and done a PCR test this morning. I hope it comes back negative as I thought I was on the mend .

Had both jabs yes. I’ve just ground a fresh coffee and I can’t smell it so it’s the real deal I guess. Feeling cold and acheing all
over. Couldn’t have come at a worse time as I have an important exam on Monday.
