Anyone got one of those Peloton indoor bikes

It is a pain Fair - but they are remarkable easy to clip them in/out.
Biggest change tho is best to have a training tyre - then you have to change that when you go out - much bigger pain.
You get all your key metrics on screen if you have the right kit (heart metre, power pedals etc)

I just wouldn’t like carting my bike in and out of garage, eve though it’s carbon so light, would be a pain & I like to keep it well oiled and would imagine bits of oil time time time getting on carpet etc, so would rather use have a fixed dedicated exercise bike

I did 30 miles yesterday. I hardly saw anybody else and felt I kept the requisite 2m apart from anyone else at all times. So important not only for my health and resilience but my mental health too.

yeah definitely agree with that, I did 30 miles on Sunday and enjoyed it. As someone that’s worked from home for nearly 4 years it’s important to do fitness and get out when you can or you will go potty

I bought a Tac X Flux S for 800GBPs just after Xmas.
I had to buy a compatible Campagnola 11 - speed cassette, which cost another 90 quid.
Its a smart trainer and works great with my Garmin Edge and the heart monitor. Plug the trainer in and its auto - the resistance increases automatically - though resistance can also be pre-set.
Its extremely quiet: direct drive, no rollers. Really sturdy.
I use a carbon 11 speed Boardman with 105 group set.
Next up is an endurance machine.....not quite decided what yet? Trek Madone? Cannondale? mmmmm

Just been out for a gorgeous long ride up in the Lincolnshire Wolds. It’s quiet up there at the best of times - today I went 37 minutes seeing only a post van on the road.
Really really enjoyed it as I reckon we are on borrowed time and it was first one in the UK this year.

The etiquette of overtaking has quickly developed - a call from behind and as long before you overtake swing out to the other side of the road.

seriously considering a tacx flux 2 now as most are sold out everywhere and if lock down gets worse I don’t want to be running laps if my garden

Good luck with it - they are supposed to be really good

Never understood tech, but Im noticing a gradual increase in fitness - I use the GCN [Global Cycling Network] training videos downloaded from youtube. They have different times and focuses: endurance / strength building / fat - burning [my specialism].
This lockdown lark may have its positive benefits yet?!:)

I have a keiser m3i which cost @ the same as the peleton. The keiser is made in the USA and is said to have a better build quality.
I'm using the peleton app via an iPad. This is my second month and I'm enjoying it. Although I have a semi-decent road bike it's not always possible to get out on it.
With the peleton I've been able to get some exercise done etc within a very short time frame .
The rides can be as hard as you want them to be. There are rides led Christian vanden veld the ex tour de France Rider and he's quite intense.
Obviously they are no substitute for getting out and about but they get your heart rate up and can be good.
I would agree that my bike and the peleton are expensive but I do think you get what you pay for, just like road bikes.
Definitely worth getting a cheaper bike first though to see if you actually like it.
Personally I think the big challenge will be continuing with it on a regular level when I'm no longer working from home etc.

Glover ,a leased VW golf doesn't help with keeping the body active. I agree it's a lot of cash but if it's an effective way of running up a sweat , I think it's money well spent. It's all about time. I've two young kids and a long commute so I simply wouldn't be able to go for a long bike ride.

Thanks for telling me how I should spend me money.
Please tell me why you think it's for the gullible ?
Also let me know when did you last use one?

Daft isn’t - Everyone gets really judgemental and seems to spend their money better than everyone else.:)
You are enjoying it and that’s all that matters

There's no doubt that it's expensive especially when here in NY you can get a monthly gym membership for $15-40 all-in , yet unless you're using it, that gym membership is no good.
My point is, it's.convient and I've managed to do exercise when that wouldn't have been the case before.
It's fair to say it's expensive but for the gullable? I knew what the up front costs would be before I signed up.
