Not personally, but then I'm not in Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. Nor am I someone in the public eye who has raised any criticism of the country. Or someone not in the public eye who has raised criticism of the country. Or member of a religious minority living in China.

Your train of thought would be very different if you lived in Taiwan, Japan or as of last week, Australia. Or if you lived on the China/India border.
They are building for something and it won't be for the benefit of the rest of the world.

not by the Chinese people who i am sure are as decent people, but certainly the Chinese authorities we cant be so sure. I wouldnt have let them buy uks assets and i dont like the way the government has tried to strengthen trade links. ideally i would like the western world to boycott trade with any nation with appalling human rights records such as china, but that's not going to happen.

I had a mate who worked for the security services, he was certainly worried about both China and Russia, I guess there is lots going on which we dont know about.
On the basis that Covid came from China, I am very worried that something like this doesnt happen again in my lifetime.

I think China is smart enough to know it needs the rest of the world buying their products and trading for resources they don't have to keep ticking over.
It will be very interesting to see how Russia moves in the coming years when (I assume) Putin is succeeded by someone. It could be a chance for the younger generation to get a more liberal leader in, but equally another (or even worse) hardliner 'strongman' type could replace him.
If the world price of oil and natural gas goes down, or Europe stops importing a significant amount from Russia there could be a bit of upheaval for them financially as well, unless China and India take up the slack.
I'm pretty sure my lifestyle, earning power and freedoms are under much more direct threat from my own government than that of Chinas.
I can't hear China in my inner monologue now without hearing it as a Trump Chyyyna, weird.

I dont believe USA are committing genocide presently like the Chinese authorities are against Muslim Uighurs. Yet the west turns a blind eye including the UK government.Would that include the USA, whose human rights record is appalling

Losing battle mate. I posted a video on here nearly twelve months ago now of Chinese Uighurs with shaven heads been loaded onto freight trains at an undisclosed train station and nobody battered an eyelid.

Any actions from governments around the world? Trade embargoes are utterly pointless. Hell North Korea have developed and tested nuclear warhead carrying missiles whilst been shut off from the rest of the world so one can only imagine what the Chinese have stashed away.

its absolutely appalling but they wont call them out because its big business, the uk doesnt want to affect trade relations and i think there is a certain trepidation and fear with upsetting china. The UK relations with the middle east has been deplorable for decades whether is the likes of the royal family accepting gifts from them, or the UK selling arms to these despots or the english FA thinking its ok to send a team out to qatar for the world cup. Sadly money comes before principles and even human rights.
