Anyone else struggling to be bothered about this season.

There is undoubtedly progress on the playing front under Neil Warnock and his trusty lieutenants. But if we are honest we are not going to be in the playoffs.
So nothing drastic there but as a supporter who is fortunate to have a season ticket, the real joy of being a supporter will be missing all season.
The excitement of Matchday, meeting friends, talking about the game on the way home with the boy and laughing about some shambolic clearance or miss.

I’m bothered but I just have that sense of foreboding that at some point at any time it could be cancelled or postponed given covid!

I am a lot more excited about the prospects of a decent season this season. Also must say I’m enjoying watching the matches, nothing can replace being there but I would by lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying it.

As always, I'm enjoying the good bits; I've been up and punching the air as the goals have gone in.

I stopped worrying about the "big picture" stuff like promotion and relegation ages ago, because in the very big picture, every promotion will be followed by a relegation and vice versa.

So I look at a very small picture instead: each individual match is the be all and end all in its own right

We look better on the pitch and the signings are an upgrade on last season. We have a better manager so I guess I'm slightly more excited. Its not a push for the playoffs I'm mad for but more so more goals.... Its been a while. That said 2 in 3 league games isn't ideal😂

It's not the football I miss. Its everything thing around it and the whole social side. Going to the pub at 1200/watching the 1230 game with a few beers/ Boro game then back to the pub for 1730 TV game. All finished off with a curry with mates.

Going online and watching a streamed Boro game in my living room simply don't cut it. The scary thing is that it could be next season before things get 'better' 😕

It's not just Boro. I could normally happily watch back to back random prem games on sky. I just flick channels as no crowds isn't the same. The football is slightly 'strange'.

I’d much rather be there and everything but having been told I can’t really legally socialise for the next 6 months (potentially) watching the Boro on the internet is basically the highlight of my week now!

It does have a bit of an extended pre-season friendly feel about it, in prep for the real business next season. A dress rehearsal in an odd sort of way

It's all been a bit meh for me since March and it continues to be that way. Struggling to get in to it.

When it all first came back after the suspension I was quite excited because it was something to watch, but I've really stopped really caring to be honest.

I don’t miss it tbh but I haven’t for a few years. A good season for us now is not flirting with relegation. Big Warnock fan but we clearly don’t have the funds to back a manager who is the master of promotion out this league. Feels like we are just making up the numbers and the club is happy with that. Win, lose or draw I shrug my shoulders now.

Watched every game in the pub so far and it doesn’t feel any different to normal i.e a crowd, but I can imagine it does if sat at home with just yourself.

Still celebrating each goal as if it’s the most important, including today’s offside one. We need a win to get a bit of excitement going.

Yeah, I'm feeling like that at the minute, and even more so after today's game. I think we'll draw a lot of games this season so will finish about half way. I see us conceding goals but not scoring enough.

But, huge Warnock fan and I hope he gets the players he needs. If so, you never know!

Warnock should of been the choice when we hired Monk. If we could back Warnock financially like we backed Monk he would have the league won by Xmas.

Gibson is very reactive, he went with the open and attacking Monk after the negative and defensive Karanka and then the young Woodgate after the dinosaur Pulis. It’s almost as if he always does the complete opposite of the last manager which is probably why we have so many square pegs in round holes. We have such a unbalanced squad with players and attributes for every formation going but no proper identity because they were all bought by different managers with different styles.

I already get the impression Warnock is done after this year and I wouldn’t blame him. We won’t be any where near promotion or relegation and that’s probably good enough for Gibson. Wish we could of got Warnock a few years ago and actually had a few quid to spend. No manager will get more out of a squad than Warnock but I don’t think he will be able to deliver anything more than stability with the time and funds he has to work with. Boro will be a footnote on his otherwise very impressive CV when he retires, neither a disaster or one of his many fairytale successes. We were 100% going down last year until he saved us though.

Well said and one hundred per cent agreed. So many if onlys...

Good thread this and it’s interesting to read how others are finding it.

I think survival is the name of the game for a lot of clubs just now and that puts a different perspective on ambitions.

I can’t wait to be back in the Riverside but with the streaming I’m enjoying watching every match.

The other thing I’m doing is having a couple of beers whilst watching in the back room because I‘m not driving and I could get very used to that. Watching the Boro has always been a family thing for me and has never involved drinking before or after the match.

As for the team, I think we look solid, I wouldn’t write us off yet.
