Anybody else not get excited to watch England?

I've been a bit more onboard with England during the Southgate era but have really not been very bothered for decades. Normally get into it when a tournament gets going but only half bothered then compared to when I was younger. Italia 90 is the last time I was mad for it really.

Ive lost all interest in England. In my long life my hopes have all but faded. Following two recent great opportunities to win a trophy Ive come to the conclusion that we haven't the bottle. That is what makes a team great and we always come up as the bridesmaids, never the bride.

My enthusiasm is with Boro now, and Boro alone. UTB.

That's harsh isn't it? They've recently done better than any England teams in living memory. Better than they've done in 50 years basically.
As a comparison if this Boro team miss out on the last day by a point or a goal, it would be very unfair to say they lack "bottle". Same goes for this group of England players.
Saying all that I'm not that excited about the upcoming games!

We always have this talk about not caring about England when there's an international break for friendlies/qualifiers but people generally change their tune when a tournament is approaching.

I don't really enjoy watching friendlies and qualifiers but I do get up for it once the tournament has begun.

I'm nowhere near as passionate about England as I am about Boro but I would still love to see England win a major tournament one day. Sadly, I feel it's unlikely to happen in any of our lifetimes.
I disagree, most of us have a good chance of seeing England win a tournament. The thing holding us back in the past was our lack of technical players, now we have a good steady supply line of players with ability. Of course we had good players in the past, but we can compete now with most in possession of the ball. We're not relying on bravery and effort anymore.

Totally agree, we just came out the wrong side of a very tight game vs France, that we probably edged overall in terms of general play. The problem is with England people can't separate individual teams and performances from the history that has come before.

I mean we've actually got some decent opposition in qualifying this time round, HOWEVER I wanna be watching Super Michael Carrick's Boro make their final push for promotion! Hurry Up!
I've enjoyed England and been more confident about seeing good performances in the last 6 years than at any time. There are some fabulous talents, shame we're a bit short on quality at the back, but so be it. I'm going to the Ukraine game on Sunday with my boy, should be a good game.

The Southgate link is great as a Boro fan too

Enjoyed the last couple of World Cups and Euros, enjoyment of England been rekindled somewhat since those and almost back to my Euro 96 peak, but never a match on watching the Boro. The day England lost to France, I couldn't be too disappointed as Boro had just beaten Luton 2-1 with a last minute goal from Matty Crooks.

I think it's an age thing. You're all getting old. Youngsters love a bit of International football and England. age you drift outside of tournament football.

I'm only 30.

I love watching England, but this time it's not actually catching my interest at all, watching Boro is too good right now.

:ROFLMAO: Both past your best then. You can both leave it to the youngsters.

I might be wrong of course. Maybe the kids dont like them either.

Admittedly I didn’t have to think twice about (not) watching England in the Qataris WC. I was traveling and having more fun doing other things besides it’s fair to say you can catch up on YouTube on things which seem less important. The state of international football hasn’t changed over the years, Brazil are number one but they’re not, and that’s where the story ends.
