Any one have tinnitus?

Aye, I'm a fellow sufferer too.
27 years of drumming in bands has done for me....my ride cymbal is loud as ****, and I've played with some real noisy bleeders!

You just gotta put up with it.
Good thread this like, as you say kinda reassuring to know others suffer too and have good tips!
I tried them Kalm ear plugs, but they were *****.

It's an absolute gutter that smoking weed makes it worse too! It's like someones deliberately trying to ruin my life!! Cheers God.
It doesn't stop me like..gotta have some pleasure ey? ;)

As has been said, once you stop worrying about it disappears.
A ticking clock is no threat and so your brain filters it out , try to assure yourself that it's
only you hearing picking up the electric activity in your brain.
You will get used to it if you assure yourself there's" nothing to hear or fear", I hadn't heard mine for month until halfway through typing this thread.(!)
I find mine is worse in the morning after a good drink, My guess is that's down to dehydration.
But don't worry, ignore and it will fade away.

Surprised at how many others have tinnitus, to be honest. I spent years in kitchens where the constant drone of extraction fans obviously took its toll. I've warned friends who are still in the hospitality industry of the dangers. Unfortunately it is one of those things that nobody is warned about when they first step into a kitchen.

I get a slight ringing when I'm sat in a quiet environment and the wax builds up quite heavily in my left ear. I often soften with oil and I'm actually booked in for a hearing test on 9th June. I wear AirPods a lot, listening to podcasts and music and often find that a slight movement of the pod in my ear, can massively decrease/increase the volume without touching the controls. This was my biggest concern really as I do wonder whether there has been damage to the ear drum/canal.

Yup don't mind a doobie myself but I know if I do have a bit I'll just be more conscious of it... Especially at the moment so gonna have to give it a swerve for a while.

Went to see a psychiatrist today because of the anxiety it's caused and he said the same thing about your brain realising it's not a threat and filtering it out. I'll get there in time. Really has helped hearing from everyone on here though

I've had tinnitus for about 20 years, ranges from a constant ringing in both ears to gusts of wind that sound in line with my heart beat. I'm ok when out and about where there is other sounds to mask it so i don't notice it but bed time can be tough when there is silence and all i can hear is the ringing which makes it hard to nod off. I have recently gone on the BBC Sounds app where you can download sounds from nature like running rivers, rain falling, waves crashing on a beach etc... which i put on in the background that help a lot and very relaxing too.

There is also lots of good advice on the British Tinnitus Association website ranging from treatments, support groups, research etc...
