Any Guinness fiends on here?

P.s. is fiend an appropriate term for Guinness drinkers? Stella fiend sets the right tone but I'm not convinced by Guinness fiend. 🤔

Guinnessophile here. Havent had an Irish one for a while but do feel the quality has dropped off so always happy to try another porter / stout

I came across bottled Guinness in the 'world foods' aisle of Sainsburys. It cost twice as much as the regular version in the same store, presumably because it's brewed overseas and imported to the British Isles. But is it that good?

If I'm having a pint I will always have a pint of Guinness. Got hooked on it in uni when you couldn't tend to get bitter. It tastes exactly the same in Ireland as it does over here.

Anton the Guinness you found will be Nigerian Guinness. Much stronger. Think special brew mixed with Guinness. Would not recommend.

Gillespie’s a Scottish stout is a good pint.. edit..was a good pint 😢

I don’t go in for this “only in Ireland”line with Guinness though, had good and bad away from and in Ireland…

I agree with that. I was in Ireland last year and enjoyed a few pints. Mind you I've tried Norwegian and Dutch versions and they're not quite up to it.

Every time I've visited Northern Ireland and had a Guinness they've always made a shamrock in the head of the beer - not sure whether they do that over here?

It's probably just a psychological thing but I always feel it's a watered down version whenever I have a Guinness over here.

Yep love the stuff, we've got a couple of very good Irish pubs in Sheffield (traditional not chain) who serve a very good pint of it.

I've yet to try one in Ireland but will correct that ASAP!

The Nigerian one (red top at the time) was a quid a can when I lived in SE London, safe to say a few were imbibed :)

Good shouts re: Cassel's and Anspach, see also Thornbridge's Market Porter. They also did a beer called "Bronx" a few months back which billed itself an "Irish American Stout", 7.4% and absolutely delicious. Might be out of production now though.

I used to love my stouts and porters but since I have stopped putting poison into my body, I still like the taste. The Guinness 0.0% is actually very very good

For something different, Titanic Porters (Plum and Cherry) are amazing.
