Anti 'Jawdie Arabia' flag at Crystal Palace game today - police investigation

Probably not in the press you are reading but it is about. Lots of people are standing up for the human rights of others, but if you have created a echo chamber out of your own beliefs and perceived ' hypocrisy' of others then you won't see or read about about what other groups are doing, because apart from one or two circumstances it won't get much attention in your world and when it does like now, you put it down to the hypocrisy of others.
Hmm. I read from a range of outlets actually so there's no confirmation bias here.

As I've said a couple of times. It's a bit rich having a pop at Newcastle when Britain has sold billions in weapons to Saudi Arabia and continues to encourage them to buy stuff in Britain. Is it any different really? This country by-proxy supported the bombardment of innocent people in Yeman.
I've called out this countries stance in providing weapons to the Saudi's for decades.....am I allowed to have an opinion on Newcastles ownership? In fact wouldn't I be a hypocrite for not calling out this buy out?

"This GOVERNMENT by-proxy supported the bombardment of innocent people in Yeman." - fixed it for you

what happened to Jamal Kashoggi was indeed Barbaric, I wonder what motivated the Saudi's to do it?
the fact they are dictators, have a record for killing people, and don't like anyone vocalising their displeasure tat this regime. It's really that simple. Dictators do what dictators do

BM - I wasn't being personal with my comments, so please don't take it that way. Good on you calling out the close relationship between the British Government (good point by the way as opposed to country) and the Saudi regime.

Hypocrisy is a really bad argument to use in this context.

You can sit idly by watching one immoral act and ajudge another to be a step too far. In fact it's what we all do. We all have our limits.
Indeed!

The Newcastle takeover actually highlights the disgusting sales of arms to KSA and makes it topical after being conveniently swept under the carpet

The other fact that gets conveniently swept under the carpet, and has done since the date itself, is that this is the lot responsible for 9/11.
Yep and the fact it's the Saudis who follow wassabi islam which has morphed into extreme beliefs that Bin Laden and co spread.

500 people a year in the UK commit suicide because of gambling debts.

Or would you prefer we were sponsored by a loan company that charged 118% interest? I wonder how many people kill themselves when faced with mounting debts they can't pay.

Is morality really just a question of scale?
Disagreeing with one doesn't mean you condone the other.

perhaps this police investigation is just a smoke screen to send a warning shot to football fans - dont be making such banners or else we will investigate you - they wouldnt be wanting a major movement, broader than football to begin and get traction.

some folk are getting 'fabulously' filthy wealthy through association with the house of Saud.

i wonder what will be said when the Israeli's decide/try to buy a football club ? - who knows, perhaps they already have

Surely it's a matter of procedure. Don't the police have to investigate every complaint they receive no matter how trivial and irrelevant they might appear to be to some?

I expect they operate some sort of triage system. The term 'investigate' is very elastic. This one will probably raise a 'politically sensitive' flag and have been kicked upstairs. An exercise in buck-passing will now ensue. It is clearly a nonsense but senior officers and politicians will wish to avoid the responsibility of publicly stating this.

I think the route they will use will be the figure with the sword is a generic Arabic figure so it could be considered a racist sterotype.
It's not really a generic Arabic figure though, is it? It's a relatively common dress style in a couple of the Gulf Arab states but not really anywhere else. North African or Levantine Arabs don't dress like that, for instance.

The great sports-washed from up the road.

The thing is, what Newcastle fans really crave more than anything is respect from the real big clubs in the country. That's at the crux of their hatred of Mike Ashley - that he made them a laughing stock.

And it might be dawning on them now that they could win all the cups and all the pots and all the pans and have all the best players come to the Bigg Market in the next decade, and finally truly be the 8th biggest club in the world, and most supporters in the country will think "well yeah, so what?" - your club is now just a vehicle for the Saudi State. Of course you should be winning everything.

No-one is going to cheer NUFC winning the league in the same way Leicester received congratulations from all over the country. Outside of Tyneside it will be shrugs at the inevitability of it.

This will be the exact opposite with everyone wanting them to fail and laughing when they do
