Angela Rayner

Gaz, I think even discussing misuse of school meal vouchers is dangerous. Should it happen? No of course not, but it has absolutely no relevance to the fact that our children are going hungry, no relevance at all.

It is very similar to the argument used about benefit cheats and it excuses the governments lack of morals. The cost, when compared to the public purse being opened up to rape by tory donors, is pocket change.

Let's make sure every family has the chance of a roof, heating, lighting and food then deal with those that abuse the system once we have done the important stuff, you know like feed everyone.

I find what you are doing, which is at best watering down the argument, or at worst, excusing the government vote, to be reprehensible and echos what the right wing press want you to believe.

On the subject of Angela Raynor's outburst in the HoC chamber, good on her. Incites hatred does it? What about branding everyone on benefits as cheats, does that not incite hatred?

We excuse a politician double speaking in the house, failing to answer questions at PMQ's, robbing the tax payers and some of you are a bit upset that Raynor called scum by it's real name, observationally correct, but it's not British. Whilst allowing our children to go hungry is acceptable in the chamber. They can do one.

I did say for every person abusing they’ll be 10 that don’t

I did say for every person abusing they’ll be 10 that don’t
You did Gaz, that isn't the point I am making. Raising the odd person that will try and scam the benefit detracts from the need for the social safety net. I suspect it is more like 1 in 500 who would use the vouchers for fags or booze, not 1 in 10, but that isn't the point.

Mentioning it at all legitimizes the viewpoint that there is a reason not to feed starving kids.

As regards Vicky Ford it’s called “gaslighting” I believe......however the scandal of that story (as usual with the Tories) is that when the vouchers don’t work, Edenred (whoever they are) charge the poor devils twenty one quid for a phone call to try and sort it out!!

I've rang Edenred multiple times. Never been charged that

Parliamentary Code, A Simple Guide

It is unparliamentary
to use the word 'scum'
when calling out power
for what it has become.

It's also unacceptable
to call someone a liar
as they sit there in the House,
pants undoubtedly on fire.

'Scrounger' on the other hand
is apparently apt
when punishing the needy,
having openly laughed.

'Feckless', 'Lazy', 'Cheat'
are all perfectly ok
thrown at the undeserving poor
to waft the stench away.

'Revolution' is a magic word.
Say it, watch them quake!
Will the member for Gladhanding
please be upstanding
and proceed to Traitors Gate.

I agree the point I was trying to make is it should be easy to make age restricted items not be discounted when the voucher is scanned
