Unfortunately no chance, the focus on her background the right wing media would put would make what happened to Corbyn look tame.

Look at AOC in the US who is often referred to as a "former bartender" to somehow doubt her credentials to play in the same political sphere as the trust fund kids.

Her real life struggles and experiences means she would have more in common with the people than the toffs at the moment

She performed really well yesterday that’s for sure.
I agree though the media would crucify her if she became leader - and that, I’m afraid, matters.

I completely agree, but that wont be how it's spun in the media.

They'll suggest she's not fit to run the government as she didn't go to Eton, left school at 16 and got pregnant etc etc - it'll be brutal because as you say she would be a far better option for the majority of people outside the 1% and that's why it wont happen.

Having been hammered 3 times in 48 hours including yesterday's abysmal appearance in front of the Liaison Committee, and within hours of Rayner carving pieces off him.
The Mail on line headline today "Enough of the BS Boris" Might indicate all is not well among all ranks of the party

Used to be my UNISON Rep a few years ago. Feisty, not afraid to speak her mind and carry out a little bit of tubthumping when necessary. Pleased to see her doing well for herself as an MP / Deputy PM.

She's a 100% genuine person, so surprised she's got as far as she has in politics........

I liked a couple of things about her PMQ performance. She raised a laugh or 2 with the way her questions were phrased, giving reportable soundbites that papers may use. Secondly she was well prepared with quotes and figures from government. However, I think she missed one important thing. Johnson kept talking about excessive demands for tests, and how we are testing more people than other European countries. This is true'ish. However she should have called him out on the excessive demand, the demand is exactly what it should be, people with symptoms asking for tests. As I understand it you have to go through a Q & A to book a a test, and you don't get offered a test unless you meet the PHE criteria for a test. So.... No the demand is not excessive the testing is inadequate. Secondly on the comparisons, he compared the UK with countries with lower infection rates, of course there are fewer tests conducted because fewer are needed. She should have concentrated on how many tests were being missed, those people who wanted a test but couldn't get one and compared that, because that is the important figure.

She did well, but she missed a couple of things for me.

Boris will be gone this time next year - the Torys will hang all the blame for the economy and covid on him and then kick him out. His slavish devotion to Cummings is what will seal his fate though. Lots of senior MP's dont get a hearing with him and have no chance of a govt post - get rid of Boris and that all changes

But better to wait until all the economic pain and incompetence on Covid is out in the open before deposing him, then make a clean start with their own man.

How do you know everyone who is saying they have symptoms actually have symptoms? You don't. You can't.
