And you wonder why the police are not trusted

Who killed Liddle?
Did you kill Liddle?
Who killed Liddle?
Police killed Liddle Towers
Who killed Liddle?
Did you kill Liddle?
Who killed Liddle?
Did you kill Liddle Towers?
Who killed Liddle?
Did you kill Liddle?
Who killed Liddle?
Police killed Liddle Towers
Why did he die, or did they lie?
I think he's dead, so a doctor said
He was beaten black, He was beaten blue
But don't be alarmed, it was the right thing to do
The police have the power, Police have the right
To kill a man to take away his life
Drunk and disorderly was his crime
I think at worst he should be doing time
But he's dead
He was drunk and disorderly and now he's dead
Questions are unanswered
Policeman scared to talk
Perhaps they are hiding something
Will my message get across
Please tell me why, why did he die
Please tell me now, and tell me how
Police have the answers
But they haven't got the right, to kill a man
To take away his life
Perhaps I'm not to clever, perhaps I'm not to bright
But I think your verdict was just a lie, a lie, a lie, lie
Murder, murder, murder, murder...
MURDER
Who killed Liddle?
Did you kill Liddle?
Who killed Liddle?
Police killed Liddle Towers
Who killed Liddle?
Did you kill Liddle?
Who killed Liddle?
Police killed Liddle Towers

I trust them. Although I don't 'rate them' (if that's a thing😂)

The only times I've ever had to deal with them they have been fecking useless. I guess it's under funding or lack of man power (or some other drivel).

It's only minor stuff. A broken into car /garden shed. Pretty much no f*cks given and 'here's a crime number for insurance'. I even had cctv and had to practically force it onto them.

The very least I expect is a full CSI team or Gene Hunt turning up lol.

I was shocked in talking to a police officer just how little staff are working at any one time. 2 staff handling any 999 calls on shifts, no real resource to investigate anything that isn't an immediate danger or threat.

In general I think the police do a good job in very difficult circumstances, there are always going to be a very small number of 'bad apples' but they seem to find them out in the end. A job where you can face extreme violence any time, just reading the news this morning and an officer attacked with a knife while responding to a call for help.
I agree that they have been underfunded and under resourced for a long time and this needs addressing. I still find it reassuring when criminals are court, just think the sentences should be much tougher.

I have no real problem with the police. I have more of a problem with our justice system. Prisons, though obviously essential, don't rehabilitate the majority of offenders and never have. But they themselves are creaking because they're full to the brim with people suffering mental health issues. And those issues are themselves mostly linked to social deprivation. But will we as a country do anything about funding decent solutions to it all? Of course not, because the moment Labour tells the truth about increasing tax on the top earners to pay for it, they are slaughtered in the poll booths by the very people whose daily existence would be improved the most.

In short, we're f***ed. Happy Saturday, everyone!

It’s not a case of the police being useless or “no f*cks given”. There literally isn’t anywhere near enough officers to put any time into a theft from car or shed burglary.

For example the most likely ways to catch the suspect quickly would be:

1. If he/she didn’t wear gloves, quick fingerprint and they’d likely be caught (assuming their fingerprints are already on police systems).

2. Their face could be seen quite clearly on CCTV - email sent round police officers - anyone know who this is? Almost certainly one of the cops will know, if they still weren’t identified put it on the local police website / Facebook page. Job done.

Problem with that is, even the most inexperienced criminals know to cover their faces and wear gloves.

Some cops might go the extra mile (If you live in a quiet area, little village in North Yorkshire for example, or if it’s an especially quiet day, or the whole team is in, no one on holiday or off sick or on training etc and it’s not too busy) and do a bit of CCTV enquiries further down the street / round the corner to see if they can get the suspect approaching your car before he puts on his balaclava or whatever.

But you certainly won’t get an investigation similar to that of a more serious crime (section 18 assault, attempt murder, rape, murder, firearms discharge etc), whereby the neighbourhood would have their doors knocked on to try and obtain CCTV, whereby they’d run ANPR for all cars in teh area at the relevant time and try to trace, identify and eliminate the owners of said vehicles, whereby they’d do press appeals etc etc etc

Often the people who “don’t rate the police” actually have no idea how insignificant the crime they have become victim to is in comparison with other crimes that have occurred that day and understandably the police have to prioritise.

The police have had numbers slashed for years by the current government. Surely everyone must have seen the amount of stations closed down. Still... 'Good old Boris'.
I expect crime stats post Pandemic will be way down except probably for deomestic violence.
The Tories will use this for further cuts and claim it was all down to them

I have been to Crown Court 5 times and magistrates court probably 15. Never underestimate Judges, they are brutal and without fear. They can make a defence council look ridiculous in a few words. I was always in awe of them.
I just feel sometimes they are out of touch with reality. However there was a judge in Colchester who was a pleasure to watch.

I was expert witness a couple of times in the High Court in some business cases.
I like to think I have a little bit about me but the top Barristers were on another level and the judges astonishlingly clever.
By the time I's worked out what they were saying they two points further on.
That said, in both cases, whoever paid out more for their legal team won..... almost irrespective of the case.
