Your Message
Can you please reveal your plans re the early bird season cards? Is the deadlines date being put back?
You have asked me to pay £461 to buy for next season, however
1, we have no idea as to what league we will be in, I will not be paying that much for league] football. If the deadline the remains the same I will definitely not be paying over £500 new prices which ever league we will be in.

Also, as you I would hope can appreciate, money is likely to be tight in the coming weeks/months so I am very reluctant to spend £461 on football at the moment.
Please give everyone this info asap as many will panic buy the card as the date draws closer.

And the response

Further to your email.

The early bird deadline is 9 April 2020.

Please keep checking our website for further updates on COVID-19, season cards and remaining fixtures. Please click on the following link for further information:

The Club are adhering to guidelines by Public Health England, Government and the footballing governing bodies and will act appropriately as per information/instructions given.

If you want to discuss further please send me a number and I will give you a call. Please be assured we are discussing things daily and will do whatever is necessary to support where we can.

Kind regards

It’s not which division we will be in that makes any difference to me. If it’s League 1, so be it. It’s become a lot less important over the last couple of weeks. However things will eventually get back to normality and we will start going to watch football again.

For me the issue is that we might not get a full season next year, we might not even finish this season yet. The club need to postpone the EB deadline until that information is available. I’m sure they will, I do t see how they can’t, and if they don’t they don’t, they won’t get much take up.

if that is their stance, then that is their stance but the consequences will be a very low take up, I am not even having that date in my mind, I won't be renewing before 9th April, that is certain and when things do come back to some form of normality many months down the line, I won't be paying above EB prices, so I guess, I won't be renewing then......

I have been critical of the club pricing policy and approach to supporters, but to be fair and balanced here, the Club is justified in waiting a little longer to make an announcement on Early Birds.
They can't unilaterally decide how the current season will conclude, or how the next one will start.
The deadline is still nearly 3 weeks away; think how much our world has changed in the last 3 weeks.
I have no doubt that the EB will be extended and probably look quite different when it is reset. The Club are entitled to wait a little longer before communicating.
IMHO.

Given how proactive many companies have been in reassuring customers about future financial commitments, it would have been more reassuring if the club had put a statement out saying something like what indeedio says above. But they haven’t really done that and that, imho, says more about their customer care than anything else.

Although receiving information from various sources has been reassuring, I don't know what the club can do at the minute. The league have issued a statement on what is happening on behalf of all clubs and when football will start again. I think clubs have been advised to get behind this and not say anymore at the time being. I don't know of any other club who have issued a statement.

To be honest the way things are I frankly dont care which division we will be playing in or how much it costs - when we get through this watching live football again is going to be great.

I popped into the ticket office. I've always found the staff in there fairly helpful. They know as much as us, they said.
Its complicated. With the situation as it is -
- not knowing if the season will finish
- not knowing when/if next season will start
- how many games will be next season
Etc, I cant commit to early birds before the deadline. As pointed out above, if the deadline passes then I don't think I'll pay the full price.

I'm sure provision will be made in these extraordinary times as the current deadline arrives, but it won't be the person communicating with you making that decision. The person who would make that decision probably has more pressing things to consider in this and his other businesses.

While I agreed with and 'liked' this post, I'm not sure it's helpful that the club has this morning put up a piece on the website advertising 20-21 season tickets, reiterating the early bird deadline, and with absolutely no mention of the current problems.

I agree 100% Capybara.
I didn't anticipate the Club's next communication to be triple underlining their original stance. You couldn't make it up.

That Is really poor from the club really really poor, in fact I’m quite shocked at how cold that response is.

There really isn’t any empathy or compassion is there as what difference in the grand scheme of things would an extra month make.

I’m disgusted by that.

I will be going ahead with the early bird deal but would also like to know more about what is happening. The trouble is, no one seems to have the answer to that question. An extension to the early bird deadline would be justified in this case.

As posted earlier, many companies have put out statements to their customers, taking account of the current unique situation and trying to ‘reassure’ their clients. It’s simply good practice. The stark message that was put out by MFC at 10am is pretty shameful in comparison with what other companies have written. I really thought, and hoped, we were better than that.

A real disconnect with Rockliffe Hall policy and comms too, which have been very good (speaking as a Spa member).
Spa closed, membership fees suspended, real timely clarity. No request to pay for next year membership up front within 3 weeks.
Then Hotel later completely closed.

Same owner, different MD/CEO.

It is certainly a strange one.
Maybe relying on the blind loyalty of fans. Most of whom, if they maintain their income levels, will have more disposable as a result of having nowhere to spend it?
