I'm trying to leave, I only really watched F1 and footie. I have these options..

Call us - only for over 70's, the vulnerable, NHS workers etc.

Message us, been on two hours it says awaiting agent then drops out, it is now saying that it is unavailable,

By post, due to COVID-19 we may not be able to respond for some time.

I can't just cancel my direct debit according to their website, so they can go on charging me £70 odd a month for as long as they can get away with, whilst not allowing me to get in touch with them?

I wonder if I was trying to sign up or add stuff to my package I'd get through easier?

Yes you can. I don't know if you are on some sort of contract, and whether there might be a penalty for cancelling, but anyone can cancel a direct debit at any time. It's part of the direct debit guarantee.

Yep I know I could, but I'm sure there would be consequences, as you say contractual, or maybe credit score if they are trying to take the payment?

yes that's true. Though lots will be doing it at the moment, would they take you to court for the penalty fee? If you emailed them explaining why you were doing it and that they simply weren't giving you any opportunity to cancel it via phone or other means.

Are you wanting to cancel the whole thing including internet? Or do you get internet from elsewhere?

Your other option is to 'Facebook Messenger' them.

BTW it isn't remotely cynical to know that all private enterprises will employ pretty much any tactics necessary to protect their revenue at this time.

I cancelled my sport Caes when this lot started using their facility on my account on the internet. That meant an immediate £20 reduction per month and I can still receive the sports channels. They said that the only change apart from the cash reduction would come when this virus situ is over and they would just put the price back to normal.

I realise that may not suit you but I was OK with it.

yes I did the same, 'paused' sky sports (though can still watch it) and kept everything else.

Done the same, paused Sky Sports but as I only renegotiated early March I thought they would tell me tough you knew the situation and your price reflected the current output, but no paused with no issues and saving £18 month.

I got through after just over four and a half hours refreshing the message app and managed to speak to someone to cancel. Obviously after going through about twenty questions on my viewing habits and being offered my package for half what I was paying.........
