I'm in doubt whether to go. My nana is staying indoors as a precaution and a few friends around me have underlying health issues/respiratory struggles.
 
I'd go if I had tickets. Outdoor events are much safer than indoor events. Think I'd rather be at the Riverside than watching in the pub. Too many surfaces for a virus to sit on in a pub.
 
Although premier league, surely now with players being diagnosed with the virus it’s time to postpone all sporting events.
 
If you're under 50 and don't have underlying conditions, and are not visiting elderly relatives then why not? Chances are the worst that will happen is you're sick for a few days.

Apparently the virus can survive in the air for three hours in aerosol form, which may explain in part why it's spread so easily. So contrary to UK scientific advice, it probably would spread fairly wide in football ground - but probably mostly in the concourses at half time. The study hasn't yet been peer reviewed so should be read with caution. Perhaps UK scientific advice will be amended if the study is confirmed.

For what it's worth in the US the major leagues are all shutting down their seasons. Both NBA and NHL have shut down their seasons.
 
If you are considering not going could I also suggest you don't go to a pub, restaurant, supermarket or busy cafe this weekend either because you probably have as much chance of attaching to it there as at an the Riverside?
 
Mikel Arteta and Calllum Hudson Odoi have now both tested positive, can see aload of matches getting cancelled.
 
I can’t see how football will continue after this weekend in its present form, closed doors at least and I would expect a two week suspension of the Premier League.
 
Given what's happened at Arsenal, I can't see the season going on much longer. Hopefully not the case, but players are going to catch the virus, in numbers, and fixtures won't be able to go ahead.

I agree - but Ben the closed doors scenario is unlikely given that players/full teams will have to self isolate-depending on how bad things get it will be very interesting to see what happens. Tittles, promotions and relegations will all need to be carefully considered- I imagine some teams are already consulting their lawyers.
 
I genuinely can’t see how they can complete the football season. There’s going to be fixtures postponed all over the place, with no realistic prospect of rescheduling them before the next season is due to start.

They should void this season and start afresh next. Not only is this the responsible thing to do, it would also mean:

Boro don’t get relegated
Sunderland don’t get promoted
Leeds don’t get promoted
Liverpool don’t win PL title

Win/win surely?
 
I think we're too far into it to cancel. If it has to be completed behind closed doors than sobeit but a lot has been invested in this season to just scrap it.
 
The only logical decision is to void the season - you can’t relegate teams an proclaim champions when it’s not mathematically certain. As for playing behind closed doors not only would it be farcical there’s the strong likelihood that players are, or will be infected at some point before the season can end in May

Poland have shut down all sporting events, all major gatherings, theatres, concerts, schools and universities. Just yesterday the catholic church agreed to shut down sunday mass.

The current UK goverment are not doing enough and I don't know whether Johnson is following CMO advice or ignoring the advice for commercial reasons.

I think Adi said it is better to overreact and be wrong than underreact and be wrong. He is absoloutely correct. What cost human life?

If the current view of a peak in 3+months, we will be approaching July to play 2 months of games. The problem with behind closed doors is that players and other staff are now being infected.

We are far to into the season to not allow Liverpool to be awarded the title one way or another. Things that are not so cut and dried (Leeds and Sunderland being promoted, and Boro getting relegated) should remain the same for the start of next season.
