All UK football to be played behind closed doors?

This seems inevitable now and there are some usually reputable sources claiming that this could come into force as early as tomorrow.

Would season ticket holders get any money back?
If it’s needed then it’s needed but I can’t see the point. It’s going to spread anyway

The government plan is to delay the spread to, hopefully, push things back a few months when they hope it'll die out. Limiting crowds meeting up is the first delay tactic. We're behind most countries with that first step already.

I think it's starting to look more likely - now it is no doubt a case of when this will happen rather than if.

Chief medical officer doesn’t believe it is worth doing - reported this morning. Says it is an unnecessary step and stops people enjoying what they want to do

I've been delving into the world of groundhopping this season and already have five different football trips planned in the next month - well, three random games at new grounds and two Boro games at grounds I've already been to. Got train tickets, hotels, everything. Call me selfish, but I will be severely peed off if football gets cancelled at this point.

Can you imagine Liverpool winning the League at Selhurst Park and all those scousers trying to get into the ground?

The WHO saying UK and USA inactivity is delaying resolving the pandemic.
I suspect that kind of criticism will drive action of some sort.

Just stop those at risk going ffs.... how many people die of flu every year ??
Public Health England estimates that on average 17,000 people die from the flu each year in England. This virus has approximately 30 times the fatality rate of the flu according to the latest WHO figures. So even if it only spread at the same rate as the flu, it would kill over half a million people.

However, it's also more contagious than the flu, with each patient infecting on average 3 others compared to 1.3 for flu.

Several health experts have said that if left unchecked it could end up infecting as much as 80% of the population. So if you want something over 1.3 millon people in England (and over 1.6 million in the UK) to die of this, then by all means, let's not take any measures to try to prevent it spreading.

I am willing to bet you that no where near the numbers of people will die from your quote.

I actually completely agree with the chief medical officer at this point.
We need to take responsibility ourselves we do huge damage to the economy (which will kill people if they can't afford to pay rent and eat etc) shutting everything down and we don't know how effective it will be.
People with vulnerable family members can take steps themselves to protect those people and must do so. Wash your hands and face when you get in the house before greeting them as well as changing your clothes.. that will do far more than stopping people having a release from the constant fear news cycle.
