All these problems Woodgate inherited

And all the injuries....
We played well against Leeds and again against Forest.

Yet, arguable the more important games, Wigan, Luton and Barnsley we didn't.

Quite a conundrum

This is exactly why the 'inheritance' claim doesn't wash. Pulis did not leave a team that was relegation fodder, I don't care what anyone says, we came 7th last year, not 17th. No one expected Woody to maintain the same standard whilst losing a few experiences pros, but not being able to pick up a couple of wins against Luton and Barnsley is not simply 'out of his hands'.

There is a style that makes us an effective team and very difficult to play against. Forest looked poor after they scored and we pressed them into making mistakes (as we did in our winning run, particularly against WBA). It's a shame we didn't make the most of a few good chances to go 2 ahead. In the second half, Wing and Gestede carried on forcing them into poor clearances for about 20 minutes but the rest of the midfield started to play deeper giving us little second ball.

That’s what is a bit frustrating.
The ‘gap’ between us and Forest, on the basis of last night is pretty insignificant.

Correct. The entire division is full of teams that can beat anyone with a bit of consistency. There are some standout players here and there but most teams have players that they don't want but other teams would happily take. The difference is in the way they are managed. Most of our players have been consistently good in this league at some point in their career. Some with us, others it is the reason we paid big money for them. We don't have a worse squad than more than 20 other teams. Most teams above us would take half of our players. Consistency is difficult, the ones that are consistently good get snapped up (or promoted).

Yep agree with that Bear

The players may get themselves motivated for the so called top teams , maybe a decent manager needs to get them motivated for certain other games .
Obviously the players are getting a good wage and shouldn’t require anyone motivating them but evidently they do .
The ability of our players is top half not bottom half that’s why why current Predicament is frustrating. Predicament is frustrating

I honestly think it’s a poor division I know that absurd given where we are in the league, but I didn’t rate Leeds I thought Forest were average and we beat wba away

so really what is there to fear in this division.

The defence has been injured almost from game 1 of the season & yes that is unfortunate though it's one area JW strengthened: D'Steel & Bloa both brought in. We've been crying out for creativity & width for - seasons, now & did little until Jan.. Browne disappointed & Roberts is unfortunate..

The squad we have should be good enough, even with the injuries, to be mid-table & possibly pushing for playoff places.

For me JW - regardless of what Gibson says - was & is never the outstanding candidate, however he is in & it's his to louse up or excel in.. at present the worst outcome upon his appointment is happening - we're floundering around in the relegation places & look disjointed & ineffectively coached in our play.

Aitor, an experienced coach & lacking in management had us looking a team with direction & purpose within a few games - quality coaching. Yes the wheels fell off badly toward the end & he certainly had character & personality issues that impaired his management, however his coaching of the team was their for all to see.

For me JW is in a similar position to when Mowbray took over - a team in transition & needing rebuilding, so to appoint a complete novice was another of those 'past mistakes' Gibson was talking about in the Gazette yesterday.. that we have to learn from (we being him)

I'd rather of had Leadbitter appointed head coach that JW.. if he'd had all his badges as he's someone I can believe in & follow, similar character to Mowbray.

I hope for the best from JW, though I'm just not seeing it.. we have another 10 cup finals to gain 10-12 points which I think we'll need & some of those need to be in our next 3 away games - we absolutely can't take 1 point from 9 like we did with the then bottom 3 clubs - can we find another run like we had up to the end of the year, we need it..

He won’t excel in, he’s a PowerPoint man

No way in hell would we be in the bottom three if Pulis was still in charge. Not a cat in hell's chance. He may not have set up his teams like Brazil in the 70's but we wouldn't have conceded the crap goals that we do. And he wouldn't put up with Pears in goal either.

But this is what everyone wanted, right?
