All or Nothing: Man City v Spurs

Spurs one was way better for me.
I stopped the city one half way through as I was bored. Then watched the Spurs one and went back to the city one and can’t articulate enough how different they were in terms of entertainment. Its hard to believe they’re from the same production house or whatever.

Thought Spurs one was brilliant because it showed more problems that arise behind the scenes.

City one was still enjoyable because it showed how much Pep demands and expects perfection (or as close as it as possible).

That half time team talk away to Leicester when he was telling KDB what spaces to get into to exploit them, and within minutes of the 2nd half starting, KDB had scored from exactly that position, which was incredible.

Two completely different series based on two completely different seasons. But both were very much enjoyable.

Don't think we'll ever see a team hit the century mark again while it's a 20 team league.

No I dare say not. I just don’t find the City one very watchable. Nothing much seems to happen. That season was a bit too “easy” for them. I guess it’s always going to be more entertaining watching people row and what not.

yeah that bit of tactical nous in regards with De Bruyne was very good

Spurs was more entertaining purely because of Jose, but it was more interesting to watch how Pep conducted his pre-match meetings/half-time talks etc.

I've nearly finished the Spurs series and I've enjoyed them both - not sure if I have a favourite.

But neither of them is remotely as entertaining as STID. And honestly I don't even mean that in the way you think I do (ie because I want to laugh at Sunderland and their fans, etc). In fact I don't really care one way or the other about Sunderland and I certainly don't hate them the way some Boro fans do. But whether it's Sunderland or anyone else, I find it way more interesting to watch the gritty reality of a lower league team struggling than it is to watch megabucks superstars in gleaming new stadiums who win most of their games and score loads of goals. Which is also how I feel about football itself.

On another note, I would kill another human being if that was the price to get a series like this made about the Boro. I'm obsessed with the idea of seeing and hearing what goes on behind closed doors. It would be one of my greatest wishes to see a documentary about the team I love.

Started watching the spurs one last night. It’s entertaining but there’s been a kop out on MP. There a good 3 months of football squeezed into half an hour and it would have been good to get the measure around what was going on over 2/3 episodes

sunderland 1st series seemed to that really well. Levy has protected himself and MP in that sense

Yeah it does just go straight into the Mourninho show. I found that surprising aswell

TBF STID is hardly jumpers for goalposts watched by one man and his dog. It’s a team with megabucks superstars from the PL who play in a (relatively) gleaming new stadium, who just happen to make an enormous hash of it all. Twice.

Fair point - I realise it's not exactly grassroots football. But I find the EFL infinitely more interesting and entertaining than the PL, which holds almost no appeal for me these days. And the finances involved (transfer budget etc) are very different - you're not watching Man City or Spurs and wondering if they can fork out a couple of million for Will Grigg on deadline day.

Premier Passions from 96/97 is still the daddy though.
Some of the boardroom scenes remind me of Vic & Bob's Hartlepool councillor sketches.

True, I agree STID is good. I cringe at the opening titles though, that song is just far too OTT.

Yes, in a world of Sunderland (or any football team) documentaries, Premier Passions will always be king.
