All lager in Tesco sold out except for ...

Corona.

Not a joke btw.
The experience from over here is that there is a time of panic buying. Then people realise that the shops are being re-stocked. So the panic diminishes. There are still reasonably empty shelves by the end of the day. However you can get most things.

We have one local big supermarket. That gets a bit of a hammering. The next nearest one is about 10 minutes drive away. Close to a big town. That one is fine.

Popped into Tesco yesterday at around 2pm.

There was still around 30/40 loafs of bread, plenty of milk, freezers well stocked, fresh fruit and veg, even managed to pick up some porridge. These have been difficult items to get by the afternoon recently.

Only thing I couldn’t get that I needed was spreadable butter (there was some normal butter and marg if you really needed something).

Beer isle was empty but that was the case the day before so maybe they just haven’t had a delivery (although this was before then pubs closure but people had already anticipated this). There was wine and spirits.

Hopefully the panic buying is subsiding for the essentials as people are stocked and shelves are replenished.

I popped to the corner shop this morning for some milk. The lass who runs it was in tears from the abuse she’s been getting because she’s had to restrict people to one of each item.
I can’t believe stupidity and selfishness of some people

Its times like this you understand that some people have no genuine decency - there is a thin veneer which is being pierced by unnecessary desperation. This is a selfish society.
