Alfie jones incoming

"Throughout a revolving door of managers Jones has been a stable presence when fit and at 27-years-old, is now one of the more senior and established figures in the Tigers dressing room."

groan

I think its fair to say there won't be a winner in the first signing sweepstake if we manage to get Alfie over the line.
So Alfie " how did the move come about " ?
Get to know Alfie jones 10 things
1 Errrrrrrrrrr

Looks like we’re targeting experienced championship players who are in their prime. Wouldn’t get much in the way of a sell on from Brittain or Jones, but we need some players like that in our squad.

We didn’t have the balance right last season, and lacked that no nonsense attitude in many games.

From EFL analysis after appointment of Hull’s new manager

Alfie Jones

Alfie Jones’ defensive frailties were exposed towards the end of last season, as his lack of concentration and speed often put the Tigers into trouble.

Selles dropped Jones to the bench for the final five matches of the campaign, and instead preferred a partnership of Charlie Hughes and John Egan.

With Jakirovic promoting fast, counter-attacking football and overlapping full-backs, Jones could continue warming the bench as he’s not the quickest off the mark.

Therefore, the 27-year-old could be a loser from this appointment, as it’s probable he could keep the duo of Hughes and Egan, or even sign defenders himself.

Sounds like our man then. 😞

The best of the best have bad spells!

Let’s be honest at our level all signings will have a list of ‘negatives’ - very much being able to build a moneyball squad so others can compensate for any weaknesses 👍🏼

Moneyball squad? I do admire your positivity but picking up cast offs from other clubs
so Edwards can turn them into a promotion busting squad is not a strategy I’d like to see. Maybe it’s the only way we can get players.

Not sure if class Jones as a cast off. He's been a massive player for Hull City. Vice captain too.

I wouldn’t class him as a cast off.

Reality check - we are currently a mid table champ side.

Not sure the type of signings you’re expecting?

‘Picking up castaways from other clubs’ that’s literally what moneyball is 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️
