Gonna have a rant ..... Got a lovely email from Alex Thompson ( Data & Insight Exec) from the Boro

"I hope you are well and keeping safe.

I just wanted to send you an email as I can see you have purchased an overseas video pass for the game today against Cardiff City. Unfortunately the game has been chosen for international broadcast and the pass was available to purchase in error. Due to EFL regulations any fixture selected for international broadcast is not available for fans outside the UK and Ireland.

I do apologise for this error. You will receive a full refund on your payment, this will be automatically returned to your bank account and we ask that you wait up to 7 days for the amount to show.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Kind regards,

Alex"

Lovely touch and not a rant against Alex but the above statement is incorrect. I eventually watched the match but had to pay another £7 to Cardiff City Football Club who were streaming the match to my country (Thailand) .... How can this happen?

Its been going on for 2 seasons now... sent loads of emails to club about the issue.... What is the issue? The EFL have Overseas Partners who when a game is picked will show it on there channels thus meaning the club cannot stream it..... BUT some countries do NOT have a EFL partnership so UK clubs are free to stream the match and get the revenue. Most clubs understand this and only block overseas countries who are EFL Partners thus countries who are not can buy the game.... So over the last 2 seasons I have had to join loads of clubs to get the match -

Why do Boro not do this? I have explained this to Alex who hopefully can shed a light on why my country (Thailand) can not show the game? They do not have any EFL Partnership so the match can be streamed. There is a list on the EFL website of Partners so only these countries should be blocked..... Can only think lazyness. I have given loads of money to other clubs over the last 2 years which Boro could and should have had... Hopefully Alex can sort this? Rant over. Will keep you posted..

Got a swift and comprehesive email back today from Alex. The club have made a financial decision in the past not to stream to non EFL partners as there would be a fee to pay. However this season they are streaming every game to season card holders and are paying a fee anyway so there is a chance they could stream to non-EFL partner countries. Update coming soon

Nothing in this post, or any aspect of your problem, necessitated the use of this persons name in the title of this thread.

I know the content is harmless. But it still could be jarring for someone to have their work performance openly discussed like this.

just a thought.
