Alex Neil off to Stoke....

I dont have any great fondness for Sunderland but this is really baffling in my eyes. Didn’t Warnock fancy the gig?

TOP SIX CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB 😂😂😂 Those four years in L1 must've been a fever dream.

Does this mean we're a premier league top 4 club on the basis that we were fourth in 2003 for a weekend?

Rumours that the Netflix cameres have been spotted at Sunderland today. This is going to make for one hell of an episode of Sunderland Til I Die!! Can't wait
Maybe that was the final straw.

"Meanwhile, manager Neil is finalising his plans for a promotion deciding clash against Norfolk big guns Norwich, who he used to be best friends with"
"F*** this nonsense. I'm out of here"

It's the only basis on which players and managers choose which club to join.
Everyone knows that.
Therefore, if Neil chooses to join Stoke, Stoke must be the larger club.

Or maybe size of club and past achievements aren't important at all?

Either way, Sunderland fans are going to have to swallow a truth they won't like.

Exactly this, if Sunderland were a significantly bigger club then he wouldn't be leaving them for Stoke. Its really not that hard to understand.

Trophies are irrelevant when most of them were won about a century ago, league position is largely irrelevant when its so early in the season so the only metric that Sunderland can argue over is crowd size but their recently history shows crowd size is largely meaningless when it comes to results.

What managers and players look at is the money available and future prospects, not trophies won 120 years ago.
