Heard he’s still acting up when away on T20 duties. Guess he’ll never play for England again only got himself to blame.
It wasn’t petty at all, Morgan felt let down by Hales twice. The easy option would have been to keep him in the team as he was possibly the best opening batter in white ball cricket but Morgan stuck to his principles and believed even if it meant the team was weaker it would send out the wrong message if he allowed Hales back in the team and I for one applaud that.It seemed “personal” between Morgan and Hales… which always seemed a bit petty and unprofessional from the captain’s point of view IMO
I believe he twice tested positive for drugs? I mean once you'd 'learn' yet twice is beyond stupid.
now add Will Smeed to that list....Not exactly short of top order options either. Buttler Bairstow Malan Stokes Livingston, Brook etc without Hales and Roy, who is out of form.
Thanks for that I knew there were issues but I couldn’t remember the details.People who have got close to Hales over the last decade who then have ended up in trouble include Stokes on a night out in Bristol and Ballance who he was close with in England dressing room (though who influenced who is open to debate). His girlfriend of the time dumped him on a cricket tour after finding out what he had been upto in Barbados.
However the way he covered up his second drugs offence from his teammates (with ECB's help) and allowed the Sun to break the story on the eve of the world cup was the final straw for most of the England players. What angered them wasn't specifically that he had been tested positive again but that the story completely disrupted the run up to the tournament as they were hit with questions that they hadn't been prepared for.
ECB won't stop him playing for England but there are still a lot of players who felt very let down by him before World Cup and that wouldn't be good for team morale.
Ooh nice one
Looks like he’s back.
