Alberth Elis

Or is it that he was always on our targets list but out of our price range, his agent calls us late and says think we’re in your range now because Bordeaux are desperate try again?

It’s not my money and I hate when people comment on the relative value of players etc but £7m quid on deadline day feels a bit desperate

I’d rather we signed a big lump from league 2 for peanuts than some bloke League 2 in France - they are probably equivalent level

It seems that Bordeaux need to sell though - he was on loan last season with an automatic "buy" clause which kicked in this summer. They've been relegated and as result need to sell presumably to claw back some cash.

80 points if anyone can name the only 8 ex-Boro players to ever play against Alberth Ellis

Bought at £5.4m offered £7m and want £8m?

Alberth Elis

Check out his stats here. As mentioned above, he only signed permanently for them in July after a loan spell from Boavista.

Why they would then sell him to us 8 weeks later I don't know.
Maybe their buy option was much lower than his actual value if they sold him, maybe they were not expecting bids? Could be an easy flip for them, to release funds elsewhere, but if he's been playing then I don't get why he would come here, unless for a wage bump (if we can do that?).

Edit - didn't realise they had gone down last year, the champo is certainly better than the French second tier.

I don’t get this, we haven’t seen enough of Hoppe to know if he’s bobbins or not. He might be class, Wilder’s just garbage at spotting strikers.

Every striker we've brought in has been a club signing, not a Wilder one.
We were in for Hoppe last summer, we were in for Muniz last summer.

So I don't think you can blame him or credit him for them either way.

This board starts off with a whiff of smoke, then the usual pongos ,turned experts - chuck blame and ridicule at a non-existent straw man(n)

From various things I've read on French sites: He wants away (to play in a better league), the club (which is in a financial mess) have previously said they needed to sell him in order to bring in other players. Now they say that they do not need to sell, but will listen to serious offers. The fans want to try and keep him until January.

For £3m oughtta been in the side?🤔

That doesn’t mean he’s ***** though does it? Truth is he hasn’t been given enough game time to know. Wilder might not fancy him… but Wilder fancied £23million Rhian Brewster who scored 3 goals in 48 games. Connolly who was dreadful and he didn’t fancy Balogun who is now scoring regularly in France.
