Agent Info

An agent who has dealings with the club says Wilder has quite an impressive list of players he is after.

Gibbo prepared to back it, but clearly wants to stay within FFP rules so needs the sales of Spence, Akpom and possibly one more in order to fully do so.

Appreciate this is all pretty much what we expect anyway, and I don’t claim any great ITK info, but nice to hear it from a source within football. Agent is mate of a mate, but did not name any specific incoming names.

Wilder seemed pretty bullish after the Preston game regarding transfers, and the calibre of players wanting to come and play for Boro. Assume these are the out of contract ones who we can legally approach (😳) so moving on the the contracted players (who haven't been approached (😳) interesting summer ahead 👍

Suarez on a free?

Contract isn't been renewed at Atletico and he wants another European challenge.

i am sure previous managers had great lists as well, crossing the i's and dotting the t's and getting people through the door has been an issue in recent seasons. Neil Bausor rightly or wrongly has taken a lot of flak and Gibson has taken a stance against some agents and wont deal with them. Presumably Gibson is not going to risk going back to high championship wages, so i am sceptical as to how we are going to attract these high calibre players unless they are premier league loans, which has rarely worked for us.

I guess it is the definition of high calibre. If we get proven Championship players - Toffolo and Lenihan for instance, then wages should not be prohibitive. Same for Twine from L1. If high calibre means proven Premiership on permanent deals, then I agree with you.
I’m sure some Premier League loans will be done, but doubtless much closer to the end of the window when their squads are clearer.

It's a shame we didn't sell Akpom to fund the signings of Gayle and McGoldrick
McGoldrick has scored a lot of goals this season to be fair. Definitely more than I expected. Always assumed he was more of an enabler than a goalscorer but he's up there at the top of the L1 charts.

Another tonight, he's been a good signing for them.
