Ageing Better Middlesbrough have launched the Age Friendly Middlesbrough Fund to support community groups and individuals help older people live happy and healthy lives through awards of up to £1,000.

The fund intends to support community groups and individuals to make Middlesbrough more age friendly, stay connected to each other and also to get back up and running after Covid-19 and the recent lockdown.

This is the second year the Ageing Better Middlesbrough programme has given community projects and enterprising individuals a platform to raise their profile, recruit new members, and buy much needed materials.

Ageing Better Middlesbrough's Age Friendly Officer Anya Deputat said: "Recently we have seen lots of neighbourhood kindness and supportive projects happening in Middlesbrough.

"Many people have stepped in and supported their communities in new ways to keep people safe and connected to each other and we want to make sure we do everything we can to keep this going.

"If you would like to apply, your activity (or reason for funding) must be targeted at/for people who live in the town and are over 50. We also welcome applications from projects that connect or support people from different generations."

Applications are open now and will close on October 30, so, whether you're a community group with a mutual interest, a passionate individual with an amazing idea, or an enterprising project working with older people in the area, this could be exactly what you need.

All you have to do is read the criteria and fill out an application form on the Ageing Better Middlesbrough website.

If you require assistance or would like to discuss your application, please contact the Community Development team on 01642 061019, or email jeanettecrosby@hope-foundation.org.uk

Completed applications can be emailed to: simone.mcneill@middlesbroughandstocktonmind.org.uk or posted to Simone McNeill, Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind, 90-92 Lothian Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2QX.
