Admit it! Who loves self isolation?

Me for one! Loving this working from home mullarky! All about a proper routine IMO. Stay focused and it's brilliant!

My first week and no problem so far. Nice walk with the missus on a lunchtime, just had some fresh air after work and finding it very pleasant.

Going to miss sitting with the kids and my granddaughter for a natter and a bite to eat eventually but were used to spending long spells apart

I think establishing a routine will be important, no office social interaction means the work can be a bit intense. Trying 90 minute spells at the moment.

I find myself working harder than I normally would in the office. It's much easier focusing at home without the distractions.

Completely.

I go into my study at 7:30am and emerge around 6:30am. Now some of it I spend on here, but I'm getting through far more than if I was in the office, but also spending most of the day on Zoom and MS Teams which is soul destroying.

I tend to be at my wfh 'desk' at about half 6 instead of starting at half 8 and finishing at 5 as would be normal, but have a couple of breaks during the day. Getting far more done with far fewer distractions, so far more productive and far less stressful. Took a couple of days to acclimatise, but would do it full time (or even 2-3 days a week) if the company Ok'd it. They won't though, it will be back to the office in the fullness of time

I would have to buy a proper chair though, my back and arsê are aching from sitting at a dining table, regretting getting rid of my home office chair and desk a couple of years ago because I didn't use them

I’m bored of it mostly because I’ve worked from home for 4 years and took a new job to get back into the office so it’s a bit annoying.

on the plus side I have a decent setup, seen loads of back/neck problems in waiting when people have posted their photos lately. Absolutely get a laptop stand, keyboard/mouse and office chair.

And yes, that is a 3kg pack of fizzy cola bottles.

Some great hardware there but it would be the cola bottles that would sell it to me 👍

Lovely set up that like

To be honest it hasn't made a blind bit of difference to me apart from there's no traffic jam on the way to work and I can find a parking spot right outside the office :D

I’m the same. I’ve reduced my use of profanities in the car given there’s no one else on the roads, however to offset this I’ve had to deal with a number of incompetent fucktards trying to sort out home working for a few people.

So on balance. Enjoying the easier commute, will be wfh from Tuesday onwards and will end up being more productive.

Teams!!!! My boss keeps calling me on it. I think he is just checking I am sat with my laptop waiting for him to enforce his power. That was for LJ which I typed out about an hour ago. Forgot to hit send...maybe that is what the boss is on about:unsure:

It's doing my head in. Can't go to the gym, can't go to yoga, I miss the banter in the office. I've gone from doing about 15000 steps a day to about 2000. I don't feel great. Not from coronavirus bit from sloth and lack of exercise.

Run on the spot maybe? You could always go back on the darkside forum and take out your frustrations on those loons 👀🤣

Get a whatsapp group or 2 going.

I spent about three hours on Teams and Zoom meetings today. Still better than commuting and conference rooms with dodgy projectors. I don't think I got a single phone call today either. Back o' the net!

I've done this since 2014 about 10% meetings, 60% design/build test rigs, 20% in production deployment and the rest support / documentation handover. So for the most part I'm home or in Data centres.

I've been more than happy - I choose my hours which can be middle of the night or weekends if I find something I need to solve, and I've probably put more hours in than I should at times but it works for me since sometimes the solutions could be hugely satisfying to develop and it paid well. I can take time out in the warmer months to chill or cycle, walk or just have lunch somewhere. Webex, Skype, (and recently Teams) have been fantastic tools for me and I really do not see the point in being present whan you can deliver virtually and save hours of wasted time on the road in congested traffic, but some need the interaction and I'm all in favour of that for those of such a disposition.

New job starts Monday - initially at home (C-19 the basis for that) so this is a step into the unknown when it ends and I have to commute for a while to get settled in at least.
