Adding he/him or she/her to an email signature.

I wish some of my foreign clients would underline or confirm which their first name is, that's the problem I seem to have most, although I suppose that is actually my problem, and not theirs. Suppose I can't be expected to know all names, cultures and methods of writing though.

There's about 10 people I regularly e-mail and I've still got zero idea which is their first name, even more so as some of them apparently put their last name first :/ Some I vary which one I pick

I don't get the "them/ they" bit mind, I'm not sure how that can apply to one person, but each to their own. I would just call them by name in that instance I think.
agreed. Daughters friend identifies as they. Whenever my daughter says "they did x", it makes me think that it's plural and multiple people did it. Just about got my head around it now, have to change my brain gear when her friend is mentioned.

I don't have it in my emails, I'm between contracts at the mo, but it wasn't there last month when I was in contract on anyones emails.

Yup, this one gets me. I deal with quite a few people from "the subcontinent" and if they are Hindu or Sikh they will (generally) put their given name first and family name second, but Muslims and some others will reverse that. As I'm not familiar with all names used (e.g Mohammed is nearly always a given name and someone who is called Singh is almost always a Sikh family) and then you get to trying to identify which gender they are...

It obviously confuses them too as I often get referred to as "Dear Surname", which is fine if a little "It aint half hot mum"

I think there’s a big problem is trans, and I’ll try to explain. Why should people have to change their identity. Aren’t tans people inadvertently conforming to sociejtbWhy can’t you have a biological gender and then identify as your name

maybe his/her she/he has had its days

Why can’t people who are men, but have a lot of female tendencies be accepted in that format.if it was why should i identify as female. Should I just be identify as Gary.

Example - I’m Gary, I like to wear dresses in skirts in the summer, I like to paint my nails ans I like playing football with my friends. - Shouldn’t Gary be accepted as Gary.

some thing in life need biological specification, as male and females body have different need and different complications.

people should be accepted for who they are, in my view society makes people conform to being male or female

It’s about moving forward as a society and learning language to suit all

they could be one person, they all could be plural

We have a user in the US who's first name is Gerri. I incorrectly assumed it was a man. Don't see any harm in people putting how they wish to identify, even if personally, the whole thing confuses the hell out of me.

Gerri with an i at the end seems like a female to me. But of course I’ve no idea how she identifies.
