Addiction Therapy

@sadgit I know you’ve sent me a message but I can’t read it there is some kind of block on my account and I can’t read or reply properly to posts - I don’t want you to think I’m ignoring you
People who attend AA and stay sober are very rare. "Success" rate is between 5-12%.
I went for 9 months and it made me want to drink. Constantly talking about peoples stories about drinking.
Constantly hearing the same stories.
Constantly announcing you are an alcoholic.
It wasn't for me. I tried.

edit
We have a counselling service called "Impact on Teesside". I was on a 2 year waiting list but got 15 weeks of 1 to 1 therapy. I got their details via GCL and have a 1 to 1 "chat" every 2/3 weeks with CGL, called ACT in Middlesbrough. The names keep changing and it is hard to keep up. I also see my mental health nurse every 4 weeks, she is a fountain off all knowledge, so I suggest you make an appointment with your local one via your doctors surgery

This Naked Mind by Annie Grace is worth a look. It goes into why we drink, and reconditions your subconscious mind to stop you from wanting to drink, taking the urge away and removing the reliance on willpower to stay sober.

Well googling that gives some options https://www.google.com/search?ie=UT...d-browser&q=addiction+services+Cambridgeshire

Personally I stopped my habits going cold turkey, drinking pints of soda water in pubs. I went to some AA meetings too - try a few different ones - and you do pick up some thoughtful comments there that help and it's not compulsory to speak. Look for local meetings and/or freephone first https://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/
