Acoustic guitar damage

Years ago, someone (definitely not my wife - she says) knocked my Takamine over and there is a crack on the headstock. Its been bugging me, and I basically don't play it because of it. But I've just restrung it and it sounds lovely, so I want to keep playing it - but not with a big crack staring at me (well, sort of).

Is there any way this sort of thing can be repaired? I've played guitar for years but I've never really been big on maintenance/repairs etc.IMG_3997.JPG

Clamp and wood glue? Or get a guitar tech to do it, if you are afraid of messing it up. If you like the guitar the expense will be worthwhile I would think.

Are you a member of the Fretboard forum? Someone on there will have far more knowledge than me on such repairs.

Looks like the head stock is nearly completely cracked off. I think I'd be tempted to try just filling the crack up with wood glue if I could get it right inside the full crack.

Oh I wasn't even considering doing it myself, wouldn't know where to start. But is it something a guitar tech CAN do that would leave it unnoticeeable?

I've got a DVD on how to wood turn a blues bowl and fancy having a go at it. This guy demonstrated how to do it at the Teesside Woodturners demo nights and I've also seen him making one at the Harrogate Woodworking Show.
