Absolutely dreadful...

I've seen enough of Payero to think he'll prove to be a great signing. Still dont think he's fit though.
I’d completely written him off after the first 45 minutes, I was surprised he came back out for the 2nd half. Thought he was gone be subbed off until Watmore got cramp. Gave a good account of himself the last 5/10 minutes. Hopefully the penny has dropped with him. Last player I thought was total garbage was Bola!

Oh boy was a wrong with that!! If we have a midfielder on the same level as Bola 2nd half of the season.. we’ll be rocking top six.

Marcus Browne to come back too!!

Too many times we’ve wasted chances by players not taking a punt. I like to see it. How man times was Payero stood in front of a player asking for the ball, so we had no advantage.. then he’s just pass it back anyway. He drifted off the man he was supposed to be marking in order to wander off into no mans land nearer to another player (usually with the ball)
I think you have to see how those situations develop. Him drawing a man in and playing it back gives another player the opportunity to run in behind.

We also have to trust him when marked and see if he rolls his man etc or is very good at holding it up and linking.

Messi is not the comparison I should be making here 😂 but players trust him when marked and suddenly he's got three men around him, he plays it back out and there's acres of space in another area of the pitch.

The point I'm making is if he sees two other players making runs, then it's sometimes an Intelligent decision to stay put, to come to the ball, to draw players in, so your team mates can sneak in the back door .

Messi 😀 tbh I thought he was going to have a bit more to his defensive game. if he’s an attacking midfielder I would’ve expected to see a bit more flair/technique.. sounds like but of a naïve comment. a bit of variation in his dribbling maybe? Not a defensive midfielder.. not an attacking midfielder (at least what I expected)

Better 2nd half when he was playing further up the pitch.. still not that good (in my humble opinion) but when the subs came on he looked like he was pushed further out wide. In that area that we see Tavernier played in. So like a right sided attacking midfielder? I’m thinking Gary O’Neil with a heart and the ability to drive the ball forward like a mofo.

Definitely not a traditional 10 like, Ramirez juninho etc.

Think that might disappoint a few people who were expecting that type
