A66 Throughabout

When you come off a66 behind cinema and come down slip road to big roundabout which lane do you use if your going right towards flares at the next little mini roundabout?
I use right lane then right lane. Always abit of fun with lane changing there

A19 Southbound to Parkway is excellent.
The a1M south after leaving the M1, the long sweeping bends, is also great, especially on a night with no traffic.
 
Rant incoming. The standard of driving in our area is pretty low. Lane discipline is shocking at normal roundabouts. A classic being those taking the shortest route between Point A and Point B regardless of lane markings. I drive for a living covering around 100 miles a day mainly in Teesside. What is this modern fixation of indicating left two junctions before leaving a roundabout leading to vehicles pulling out in front of them? Or conversely, failing to indicate right when travelling right around the roundabout to the third exit? I see dozens of these examples every single day. My estimate is that around 50% of drivers in Teesside have the aforementioned habit. Is this failure to indicate right actually being taught by driving instructors? Its certainly not the way I was taught (admittedly in the late 70's). As for the throughabout it might be a little disconcerting to a first timer but if doubtful - caution is the best policy. Yes you won't stop the Red light jumping but you could protect yourself by expecting an idiot to do just that.
 
I don't go there often but every single time I'm there, I remember too late that I'm in the wrong lane to turn right and have to go up to the next roundabout, turn around and come back again. 🤦‍♂️

It has to be the right hand lane as there are no further exits on the roundabout.
 
A lack of observation and lane discipline seems to be an issue nowadays. People join motorways as a given, it's a give way and if you need to stop then you should. I have a few near misses with this misconception. I need tail ended a women who panicked and jammed her brakes on as she saw someone wanting to join the A66 near Darlington, WTF do they teach people on their lessons nowadays. Where did indicating right to go straight on come from.

There's also a fair few when pulling out of junctions seem to work on the principle that as long as the approaching driver has enough space to perform an emergency stop then that's a big enough gap to pull in to. Also those who turn right onto the wrong side of the road totally cutting the corner.

To go right, you have to go left. Just like coming off a motorway. Very simple.
 
Same as coming onto the flyover from the a66 northbound at portrack. It's a give way, but nobody does, also you have nearly the full length of the flyover to get onto the a19, but drivers try to get on immediately causing a dangerous bottleneck. Only luck, no serious accidents

And at some point causing other drivers to react to your actions. Seen it many times at that junction it beggars belief at some of the stupidity that some drivers trying to take 2 seconds off their journey.

I say this to our lass every time we use it.. I prefer newport bridge only because of this reason.. The amount of dckheads aswell that brake and slow down in that lane to move right onto the A19 does my head in
