A reasonable performance

It was a ridiculous comment as villa have lost only 4 all season and have recently beaten both arsenal and Man City and have scored the same as Liverpool 43 goals.

I thought it was an incredible performance with what was a patched up side.

Really annoyed me that.

Thought we were outstanding against a very, very good Villa team.

Over the 90 mins Villa deserved the win, no question, but cannot fault the performance of the team and each and every one of our players.

Not very often (especially this season) we have been able to say this.

Not particularly ar*ed what any pundit says about us tbh. We know 👍

We were good yesterday, no doubt about that, in fact I think we realised part way through the second half that we were as good as them and really started to run at their defence.

A bit of luck won it for them in the end.

The moment they started going at the officials showed their frustration

A better performance and result than I was expecting. I would have thought 2 goal margin win against a top 4 Villa side.

Good revenue earner - 45% of the gate and TV appreance money and extra advertising money for National mainstream TV appearence. Money for another loan player if required.

Im not convinced they did enough to deserve it really given their status. Most chances were from set pieces (i reslise that still counts) but i thought they got a bit ragged at times 2nd half and didn’t threaten too much. First half their final ball was poor .

McGinn, who I feel is an excellent player, was very quiet last night and put in a poor performance for a player of his calibre. You could see him getting more frustrated as the game was going on and he was subbed in 70th minute. The frustration their players were feeling can be seen by the number of yellow cards they received.

McGinn received a 6.71 player average rating and was just behind Glover on 6.75 who was given the MOM.

Glover made a number of good saves, they hit the post and blazed one over second half - should have scored.

We matched them (pretty much) all game in pretty much every department, but they - imo - created by far the better/more clear cut openings.

I'm looking at it as our tactics were spot on, and all of the players put a shift in - and this stopped them dominating us. But on chances created......🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah i get that but i still wasn't convinced they'd done enough in open play, it could very much have been one where we nicked a 1-0

Funny the way their keeper kept the ball at his feet waiting for a Boro player to move out of position but we kept our shape perfectly, really well drilled side

I thought they dominated most of the match but we were organised, grafted our socks off and looked to catch them on the break. We had a spell in the second half where we played a bit in their territory without creating anything.

We played well but like us 20 years ago going to places like Preston and Coventry, Villa were never really threatened, whilst they were kept at bay by some excellent saves and stout defending.

Some of the performers in our side were top notch, if they can keep that up for the rest of the season we'll do better than I have been expecting. Also, the change in formation didn't affect our passing game. We didn't do much in the top third due to their excellent defenders and a lack of quality/cohesion amongst our front four.
