8 days of mourning - is it for real?

Left wing bias? WTF, monarchism is famously tied in with right wing and nationalism in this country, always has been. I mean the majority of the senior members of the Queens household are tied to the Tory party as Tory life peers, ex-MPs, and conservative (little c) flag wavers.

EDIT: I've just clicked through to that tweet and it was sarcasm. Spot on
Phew BoroMart, you had me worried for a minute :) (y)

Fair enough, but so did thousands of others, but we don't come to a standstill to honour them individually
No, thats why we have remembrance day and each and every person who served is represented and their memory and service acknowledged. The husband of the queen isn't exactly insignificant, hence it is treated differently. I'm not a massively pro royal fella, but I'm pragmatic and realistic enough to understand this isn't just the passing of any Joe public. I'm not saying wall to wall coverage is necessary, but it's a bit of a stretch of the imagination go expect it to be a mere mention on the news after Jeff from Halifax and his prize winning marrow

Eights day for an old prince and a minutes silence for the 150k dead - there’s balance for you!

He was a man, no better than you or I. The only difference between him and my grandfather is whose vagina he fell from at birth and which one he was wedded to. In my world that doesn't make someone more 'significant', and I'm still waiting for someone to give me a good reason why it should.

You can choose to remember the fallen in other ways than just a minutes silence if you wish

How is the 8 days mourning actually going to impact on you? It won't on me, but that doesn't mean I can't show some common decency and respect to the loss of a man who despite some flaws, and we all have them, did a great deal of good and made a positive impact on many and of those many, a large number were from underprivileged backgrounds who don't appear the have the negativity towards him that evidently people who never met him do

Any point you make on this topic, no matter how valid, is greatly smothered by your deliberately crass language

YOu can avoid however you like, and it's crass to give public money to someone for such a poor reason. The word vagina isn't crass, that is the one biological difference between me and him, that's it. So why should he be given money, wealth and respect from that one quirk of luck

He couldn't help what his cousins did though could he? And lets's face it, Whether you are a Royalist or not, he did his bit for our country.
You’re right that he shouldn’t be held responsible for the actions of his relatives, but, what really constitutes doing your “bit” for the country? Did he really set any examples on that front? In my view he just did what was expected of him. He’s neither a hero nor a villain. Sad that he’s died of course, but he had a good innings and I’m sure his family are grateful of that.

The lad has a massive chip on his shoulder about something, that’s for sure.
Without doubt, and he's got smalltown syndrome: he's right and everyone else is wrong. A complete and abject failure to understand not all people think like him and nor do are they have such pent up anger at something they cannot influence in any way. Always looking for the next thing to be pist off about

I know all people don't think like me and here's your chance to explain how that one quirk of birth makes him more significant than anyone else...

Also I've got the opposite of small man syndrome, we're all born equal, I don't believe myself to be lessor than someone simply based on that quirk of birth, you do, that means in your eyes you have small man syndrome. You see yourself as lessor than royals, grow up lad.
