55 years ago Boro 4 Oxford 1

I was 9 at the time, and my Dad and my Uncle Brian went to the match. I was staying at my Nan’s in Monkland Street, and I can still remember them coming home worse for wear but very happy. They brought fish and chips home and us kids were dancing around the bedroom singing up the Boro! Very happy days!

Yes, it's true. Frank Rea was the guy. Song sheets were handed out and it started out OK because we started with the first song on the sheet. Unfortunately, he deviated from the order on the sheet and that was too much for the Holgate who were singing the next song from the sheet. So the band was playing one song and the Holgate was singing another and it all became a bit of a shambles.

Wow u have an incredible memory although you can say the whole day was memorable!

sent home from school early. Got in no bother East End Clive Rd corner. It was like the first Wembley cup final Kids let onto the cinder track but I thought they made us get back in the crowd after the pitch invasions. Don't really remember anything about the match or how the goals happened.
Whatever else the future holds we will never see anything like that again.

I was 10 years old when I attended this match. I'd been to every home game and stood in the Boys End , jumping the wall like many others and standing with my dad on the terraces.
However, for this game, dad insisted I could only go if he got me a ticket for the East End seats which is where i ended up.
Although we lived in Worcester Street, a stones throw from AP, I can remember being in the ground minutes after the gates opened, well worth it to take in the incredible atmosphere
