5 years ago today I took my son to the legends lounge

For his 18th birthday v Charlton
My son in law & his dad came too

Before kickoff Bernie Slaven came over & told me Boro's biggest legend in John Hickton was at the game, I asked if he could set up a meeting, which he arranged for after the game
Kept this away from my son

Boro won 3-0

After the game Bernie came & said right, it's all arranged so the 3 of us set off to meet JH, on the way I told my young un, he'd been brought up with constant stories of John Hickton & now he's going to meet the great man himself

When introduced JH he couldnt have been more welcome to my son
We had a photo me, my lad & John Hickton, taken by Bernie with his image in the window on the picture
A photo I will treasure forever

brilliant... 4 years ago I did the same with my 28 year old son and Frank Quadrue was the speaker, (one of his favs) Jim Platt doing the MC and there was a table next to us with Dereck Downing, Willie Whigham, and a few others from the early 70s ...great day

That would have been brilliant, I would have been on the table with Whigham & Downing mind

I recognised loads from that era on the table but not confident to recall there names now...Think there was Gordon Jones, Spraggon, George Smith, and a few I didnt know..... Arthur Horsefield 100% was there ...couple of years before my start... He looked a beast.
