5 strikers on the pitch at the end

Probably needed someone in CM. I think it proves how far Payero is out of picture.

I'm not sure how Connolly or Sporar were on the pitch after 70 mins. I'd have had both off for Watmore and Balogun.
Agree 100%. We looked very lightweight upfront and either the midfield failed to operate, or the forwards didn’t have movement. Or both. We miss Dunc’s energy, he’s almost like an additional midfielder. As almost all fans I love what Wildwr is doing, but the selection of this forward pairing is bemusing.

I imagine all 3 loan forwards have some kind of 'assurances' about playing. Teams wouldn't loan them without (nevermind what we are paying).

So Watmore is always going to be the one bombed. Although he's probably going to the only one here next season.

That’s a fair point, but would they have expected to start immediately? We must also have the option to pick the team, of course. Very early days, but I’d like to see more of Flo and less of Connolly.

Worked a treat last week.

Both goals against Reading came from players who were already on the pitch, none of them strikers.

I thought it was very strange not to bring on Payero tonight, it looks like he'll be another nothing signing.

Balogun has to start on Saturday though, Sporar and Connolly were woeful tonight.

Yeah but the impact of the substitutions and the positivity helped us score them goals. Was a bold move that ultimately payed off. Wouldn’t say it never worked tonight either, had chances to score just never. It’s the attitude change I like

And you could argue having that extra presence in the box pulled defenders away from other players. No coincidence both goals came from crosses into the box and Crooks had two free headers for the goals.

Almost every chance we had tonight was from Crooks putting his head on the end of a cross from Tav, McNair or Jones.

The fact we had 4 strikers on might well have created the space for Crooks to get on the end of those balls, as there were more targets to mark, but I also don't recall too many successful balls in to the box before then.
Usually it was hitting the first man.

All 4 of them were on before the changes.

I'm not overly fond of it, even if it did arguably work against one of the most out of form teams in the league.
I did like what I saw of Balogun when he came on though.

We'll see what happens when McGree is back.

Let's be honest Connolly looks like a donkey, if we are counting on him to help with the goals then God help us. The fact that we stuck with him for so long tonight is worrying.

Crooks is still the most likely to score.

Watmore must be baffled as to why he’s starting on the bench each week. Connelly needs to be his back up.
I hope it’s not the same story as what happened last January when he got dropped for Kebano and Bolasie after becoming out top scorer. I would one be surprised to see Watmore and Balogun against Coventry.
