442 predictions - Boro 2nd

Think it’s more based off last season that what we have in place this season. Hope I’m wrong.

The transfer window is still open and by looking at the allocated squad numbers we are still hoping to put some first team players in the squad.

The Athletic writers have backed us & Leicester to be the teams really pushing for the top two spots... not convinced by either myself, just yet.. & Stoke as 'outsiders' I do agree with that however... I think Stoke could have a good season & certainly be up with the best of them..

Can't see it right now, but we live in hope.

A few quality signings and Akpom hitting the ground running when fit again would do a lot to boost our chances.

I think a lot of it is based on how we play rather than our current personnel. Regardless of who we sign, keep or loan you'd imagine we'd be trying to play with the same freedom and as such we'd be expecting to win games rather than grind out results.
If Carrick is as good a coach as we all suspect then it'll be that that drives performances rather than headline signings.

Lazy journalism from all these type of media outlets. Just assumed as we had POTY, a big name manager and made the play offs last season we are automatically going to improve this one.

No recognition that we have lost 4 guaranteed starters, have huge question marks over our talisman and league top scorer, and our key midfielder is another year older. That's 6 of our best 11 from last year.

Can't possibly judge how well we are going to do this season until we see how well the new recruits play and if there are any other incomings. If you offered me 6th right now I'd snap your hand off!!!!!!!!

I've asked this a few times on here as I've seen fans hand wringing and wailing about our transfer window thus far.

Which other teams from last season's champo have improved their squads so significantly that you think they will finish above us?

The 3 relegated clubs might all finish in the top 3, although I doubt that has ever happened.

I predicted us to finish 4th and I've not seen any points raised that change my mind.

This.

Stoke and Birmingham have both had (on paper) really good windows - but I would argue their best XI v ours we would still be better than both of them. Strengthened to be top half rather than top 2.

Other teams - Sunderland, Coventry, Millwall missed out..... haven't particularly strengthened or have lost their best players.

Championship is wide open, I would not like to predict the top 6 in May - although I'm quietly confident we will be "up there".

One thing is for certain, it's gonna be another long brutal season full of twists and turns👍
