Played the 1st game on the 27th May 1980 in a mini 4 team tournament, winning the final as mentioned 4-3 on penalties
We went on to become one of the best, if not the best, penalty shoot out teams in the league
I have tried over the years to but the match programme & ticket but it goes for silly money

Well done erimus. Not exactly our strongest squad on paper but we finished 9th in Div 1 that season, and we beat 'China' which sounds impressive. I wonder if that was the then Republic of China (modern day Taiwan) or the Peoples' Republic of China (what most people think of as China)?

I have the programme too which I'll attach sometime
When the teams, we're read out Bernard Gent read all the Boro playets & when he got to the opposition he said & the team is as read in the programme
