3 points

I’m watching the English game on Netflix, and it features Blackburn and like you I can’t get those 3 points out of my mind either.

I’m even cheering on the old etonions on

I seem to recall Dave Roberts and fan representatives from MSS delivering thousands of petitions to Lancaster Gate HQ of the FA and then the subsequent 3 points chant when players were being introduced to the Duchess of Kent at the FA Cup Final.

I was sad to see over tim the blame shifted from the FA to the Clubs officials. Pleased to see on this thread there continues to be a resentment at the authorities.

I started to 'let it lie' until West Ham were given a fine rather than s points deduction years later because a points deduction 'would hurt the fans'😡

I still feel cheated because the same would not have happened to other clubs (IMO)... however I wish we really knew what went on that day, conversations had, timelines.... the whole thing reeks of a gigantic ****-up

It was a gigantic cöck up by us for not knowing the rules - HOWEVER Lamb was lead to believe it would be “OK” by the FA’s second in command (can’t remember his name) and if that we had a good enough reason we could postpone. What Lamb wasn’t told was that if you could field a team of eleven players plus subs YOU HAD TO PLAY, even if that meant fielding junior players. I can’t remember exactly how many first teamers we had available, it was something like 8 or 9 including 3 goal keepers. We would have had to field a lot of juniors, possibly play a goal keeper in the out field line up even. In hindsight we should have just played and got walloped - might have kept us up..... we’ll never know

To put this into context of how much a stitch up this was - this remains one of the few cases that George carmen QC, the finest legal mind in the land ever lost.

Apparently he told gibson that we had lost before we’d entered the room during the “appeal”.

Btw never forget that for all the hatred towards the south it was the DURHAM FA that shafted us, something I won’t forget.

“ The board comprised Geoffrey Thompson, chairman of the FA's disciplinary committee, Barry Bright, the committee's vice chairman, and Frank Pattison of the Durham FA. ”
