Doubled in number in the first 6 months compared to the year before

Shameful, can anyone else remember when it was a 3rd world problem . Unfortunately a lot of our malnourished (including adults) are what we used to call " fat" . They are over eating rubbish or in the kids cases being fed rubbish. We have a huge disparity of wealth in this country but I do still find it hard to understand ( other than because of breaks in payment ,which in itself is shameful) how the need for foodbanks has occured. Contentious I know but is there a lack of basic nutritional cooking skills?
